It's a great article and how refreshing to have an intelligent and articulate manager who knows what to say and when to say it.

Beat me to it L-Man ;). Refreshing to see a paper running a story about AVB bigging us up rather than focusing on Chelsea.

"Last year was the first year in recent times that Tottenham made it so public that they wanted to go for the title but you also have to agree with me that Harry [Redknapp] was in and out of that quotation," Villas-Boas said. "It's very well to promote yourself to the title and to quit the week after. Not that this is a criticism but if we really want to go for it, this is something we have to assume from the start.
"It is a proposition I put to the players on the first day that we met. We would like to assume this responsibility, not to put more pressure on ourselves but because it goes along with what we are trying to build at this club. We are trying to put together a squad that makes us compete for the title."
Not ITK but interesting quotes, especially about Harry being 'in and out' or going for the title. Exciting times indeed.

Spotted this earlier and surprisingly doesn't seem to have been picked up by the meja! Very interesting and also very true. Harry seemed to get carried away and then about a week later thought better of it and reverted to type and started playing down our chances. But when you think about it, we all regretted him saying it because we "knew" that we couldn't win the league. Well, if the manager doesn't believe it, the fans don't believe it, the players definitely won't and therefore we won't win the league. However, if we come from the position and attitude that yes we are aiming to win it, then whether we do or don't it is what we are aiming for!

I think that the "magic" ingredient that Fergie teams show is that belief. It is a very fine balance because belief on its own isn't enough, but in our case I think we do also have the players. With belief and better management (and some luck) I think we could have got 10 points closer last season and been in the race until the end.

Good times ahead me thinks!

Its a really positive article which considering one of the concerns was we thought the press would be after AVBs blood from the outset this is an encouraging thing.

Back onto the Ade ITK I still can't get my head around 150k pw for him - someone better drug test Levys coffee cause something isn't right with this picture

He won't pay him 150k per week, no chance. What he will do though is picture a 15-20 million pound player for 5 million and then use numerous clever means (signing on fees etc) to make up the difference in the wages, hence the haggling over the transfer fee because after all that is going to pay those wages. Ultimately, Ade's is a fairly unique situation, we will be buying a player for way, way below his actual worth. Levy is a born haggler, but he also knows a good deal when he sees one.

Thus far AVB is saying the right things, making the right signings and we are linked with players we should be linked with. If this is a honeymoon period then I'm smashing his ginger back doors in.

I never thought I'd like ginger anus, but I do.

That article is excellent.
An aside: says he likes
Thibaut Courtois (GK, Chelsea, loan A. Madrid)

who i'd not heard of, so if we get any ITK on him any time soon, we know where it started

Loving this quote too...

He added: “One important thing is that we’d like to compete in the four competitions, particularly in the Europa League.

“It is the first European competition I won. Hopefully, I can get some more. It’s a competition that has so much history in this club, too.

“So we would like to extend our competition for titles to all of these competitions.

“If we are able to do that it means that we are taking the right steps towards what chairman Daniel Levy wants for the future.”

This game is about the glory too!!!

That is a fantastic quote, music to my ears. Can see why Levy would be allegedly "over the moon" at his appointment.

Yeh true. Good way of looking at it. Cheap price. A striker of Ade's talents is going to cost £15m-£20m on the open market all day, such is the value of those at the pointy end. Who else is available like that right now, and for under £10m? It's Ade and a sizeable signing on fee in lieu of the phat wages and used instead of paying that money in a transfer fee or £20m plus higher basic wages minimum. More likely £30m + 150K wages.

I hope some of this ITK comes true really, really soon. We've been spoilt so much over the last week, I'm starting to get Spur's transfer withdrawal symptoms!!!!! :(

I am less than convinced by this 150k thing anyway

If there is a 150k wage available offer it to Modric he would sign up in a heartbeat

Plus if Ade was really offered 150k Levy can surely expect a knock on his office door from bale demanding the same, 100k sounds more realistic
If its true that Ade contributes a large chunk of his wages to his charitable foundation every week as has been talked about recently then perhaps its possible that could be put into his contract in as much as Ade gets a set amount each week and the club donates a set amount to his charity in addition which combines to make the total of 150k.

Admittedly thats potentially a grey area for the inland revenue but in theory I don't see any major negatives for club or player particularly if it was publicised as the club gets a lot of good will and potential youth links with Togo and Ade shifts his mercenary tag and possibly saves a bit on tax as well.

As for others wanting parity it would be difficult to argue a case for it unless the other player had a similar long running charitable arrangement which is not likely amongst the current squad.

He is a fantastic young keeper from what I saw of him last season on loan. However, considering we are looking refusing to do business with Chelsea regarding Modric they will not sell him to us. Rules out Sturridge too.

We were signing him then those cockmunchers - who do not have transfer policies of their own and merely look to see who other clubs are signing - stepped in and said: "Coutois, mother Russia will pay 5 million rupees for your services". And so he went to them
