Something worth mentioning, I feel, although it doesn't directly lead to anything.

Practically all of AVBs list of expensive signings that we didn't get last summer have risen in price again and are now worth a lot more. I doubt this has gone unnoticed and it brings to head the question: we know DL likes a profit, does he trust AVB enough to delve into the more risky (but potentially more rewarding) high-end area of the market?

I'm not expecting him to go around splashing 25-40 million pounds but If we could dabble a little more in the 10-22 million price range it'd be nice :D

I don't think Carroll would get much game time anywhere else to be honest, and he'd be the first player dropped if they weren't winning. I'd rather keep him here.

Yep. A yr at Swansea would be fucking great. Maybe Palace. Holloway plays good football.

£20 donated anyways. I'll do something else later in the window. I know, I know. You don't have to say anything.

I actually thought you were going to go on to make the point, that all his targets going up in price hasn't gone unnoticed by Levy meaning that Levy's trust in AVB's scouting may well rise also i.e. If all the players he wanted last year have continued to increase in value and play well, then that would be decent evidence of the fact that AVB knows how to pick a player.

Therefore, well done for making me think of a point which I thought you were going to make, when you were in fact making a different one ! :)

I was sort of trying to imply that, but you said it better. Fat thumbs meant I gave you an informative rather than a winner though!

It's a very good point Rebrab. Pjanic is 23. We could easily get two or three years out of him before selling for a profit. Leandro is more of a risk, but he must have something going for him if AVB likes him so much.

Do they owe?

I thought that the deal was bankrolled by the owner there. Could be wrong

Do they have a major shareholder? The only clubs in Germany with owners per se are Wolfsburg (VW), Bayer and Hoffenheim. Otherwise there arent peopl who bankroll things.

Could be a special case in the VDV transfer.

I would assume that they still owe 2/3rds

Haha, okay cool ! I guess the only difference is, I was thinking Levy might now pull the trigger on this years versions of players ( ie different ones from last season ) that AVB wanted last year, rather than going back in for the ones he wanted last year.

Fuck, the sentences are beginning to tie my brain in knots.

If I remember rightly, the business man who owns the company I work for gave Hamburg an interest free loan to finance the VDV deal.
At least that's what I heard at the time.

You work for Kühne-Nagel then? Klaus-Michael Kühne is the man in question. He loaned HSV €8m of the €13.5m fee apparently.

Although damiao is also 23 and has 16 caps for brazil so can't see him dropping massively in value even if he doesn't work out too well and if he works then you could easily be looking at a 30m centre forward

The guy knows quality at least, as seen by his continued employment of our Andy.

I want Carroll to go on loan to another Premiership club, preferably a club who's philosophies mirror ours.

Worked wonders for Caulker.

I actually think Caulker could do with another year to iron out the mistakes in his game. Decent defender but needs another solid season of football before establishing himself as a real contender in a top 4-5 club.

I think if Leandro does finally sign, and for a big fee, my expectations are somewhat tempered. Not a bad thing. We've all craved a £20m striker - well any striker who has the potential to be a genuine leader of the line. Now if it happens, I'll just be relieved. Might take him a season just to bed in fully.

I think we can definitively state that we are after a creative midfield presence, at this point.

Eriksen, Pjanic and Belhanda have all been linked since the past window, and no doubt a few others that I am forgetting. Logic would interpret that we are indeed looking for the last part of the midfield three in a 4-3-3 ie the most offensive part to the trio. To me, its a toss up between Belhanda and Pjanic, I'd be ecstatic with either of them. Belhanda would be cheaper most likely.

AM - Belhanda/Pjanic/Eriksen et al
CF - Soldado/Leandro/Benteke
WF CF - Villa/PEA/Son et al

The key question remains as to where we see Bale playing next year ? Through the middle blocks up our central area and lessens the need, on the right changes things, and on the left changes it further. We won't buy a CF ( eg Leandro ) a WF ( eg PEA ) and get Villa on top of that. Villa must determine whether or not we go for a WF, dependant on where Bale plays
