I actually think Caulker could do with another year to iron out the mistakes in his game. Decent defender but needs another solid season of football before establishing himself as a real contender in a top 4-5 club.
Yes. He either needs to be one of 4 CBs and rotated accordingly or just loaned out to get a regular starting spot. Depends on injuries of course but if we can avoid having up to half a dozen players MIA at any one time this season that should be doable. Also, the GK keeper sitch being resolved will help every single defender as well as the unit as a whole in terms of confidence and form.

Although damiao is also 23 and has 16 caps for brazil so can't see him dropping massively in value even if he doesn't work out too well and if he works then you could easily be looking at a 30m centre forward

I dunno. He could easily flop, get dropped completely from the Brazil team, and end up being sold at a big loss simply due to having very little appeal to other clubs. I do agree that it's a risk worth taking though. Sooner or later a Brazilian striker has got to do well in the premiership.

I am attracted to the gloomy. It must be the Sandinavian in me (Get out! Now!). This has a reassuring sense of reality about it. It may be that within a year of us getting him, he is playing for the Isle of Wight. Which believe me is not as big as it was.
Ah. The smell of those pine trees.

People keep mentioning Swansea as a loan destination for Carroll but remember when McEachran from Chelsea went there he barely saw the field in six months.
Think a Championship loan may still be the way to go for him for now. Get him used to the rough and tumble a bit more

He'd get good game time at Swansea I reckon, probably see him as a younger fitter version of Britton. Under Laudrups management (if he goes there) then im all for it. See how it goes, if he isn't being used that frequently then recall him in January.

I actually think he'll do well for us if he signs.

A Carroll loan would be decent. But we have to be very careful with this one. This could define his spurs career. So we have to speak with all interested clubs intensively and ask them what their exact plans are. Maybe only a 6 month deal with opiton for us to extend it.

I'm not expecting him to go around splashing 25-40 million pounds but If we could dabble a little more in the 10-22 million price range it'd be nice :D

We did get three players in that range last summer. Not that I don't disagree with the general principle, but we're doing it already. Us and Arsenal were the only two clubs to get three in in that range last summer - both with funds generated by selling really good players.

I'm going out on a limb here, but if they manage to keep hold of their players, a loan to Villa might work for him. Just wait, I have reasons...

They are a young team, in fact Lambert seems adverse to playing experience.
Last season they tried to play a slick passing game, didn't often work but it would fit Carroll's style if they can get it together.
Most were unproven in the league and new to it, as I say, what the players were trying to do was good (ignore the defence for this point, but it matters less to a player in TC's role), they just weren't there/sharp enough for the league at the time.
If they can get that season under their belts and learn form it, a quality lad like TC could shine.

On a downside, no real experienced heads to learn from, and it all goes out the window if they lose Benteke and Weimann (sp).

EDIT: forgot to say I totally agree with the six month initial loan idea.

Damiao will be good for us. Like Holtby I don't think he'll set the world alight first season, i'm expecting a few goals here and there. In years to come he could become a great buy for us. We'll just have to see.

So now it seems suarez wants to leave. And if pool do sell it means we will have yet another club with big money to spend during this window competing with us for new players. I fear we may very well see prices inflate this window and i hope Levy is ready to adapt to this by acting fast and paying market value. The new TV money will help inflate prices too.

At least we can offer some form of European football to potential players...... Liverpool can't
