I appreciate your point about Porto but they bought him for €8M a year ago so if Kono is £13M I think it's possible.

There's not a solitary ITk that can claim any kind of credit for the rapidity in which these deals seem to have crept up.
Or the papers, they've all been quoting £27m for days on end.
Literally an hour before this broke I wrote up that Ari Gold had said we'd done a lot of work on Rodriguez; he implied nothing more, at that point there was NOTHING doing in the ITK world regards either player.
Fascinating, and again the best ITK is coming out of the clubs we're dealing with and zero from our end.
Been that way all summer.
Levy has shut down the ITK.
Or the papers, they've all been quoting £27m for days on end.

Can't remember anything like this happening to a Premier League team in my life time. Villa sold/released the core of a decent team over the course of two seasons but shit..

I know it's speculative because we haven't seen the price yet, but one the gripes I, and probably all of us have had with Levy over the years is that he's not very good at weighing the intangible costs of failing to complete a deal. For example in the case of Moutinho not spending a couple of million extra to ensure the deal got over the line before the window closed probably ended up costing us far more due to the ill-will it stirred up between AVB and the management almost before his tenure had even begun.
If we do get this deal done perhaps it's a sign that he's had an epiphany and realised that his ruthless cold-blooded approach to transfers can sometimes cost us as much as it saves us?

Credit to the club hierarchy, if the news about MS and JR are true. They've run a very tight ship with almost no leaks. I guess the Willian saga from last season has taken it's toll.
As for the players themselves... not sure what to make of it. I think they're pretty good. And I'm assuming at this stage that our favorite Brazilian clown prince is outta here. Shame, as I really do love him.
So, we would now have Capoue, Dembele, MS and Paulihno vying for two spots. I'm down with that.
What next? A CB would be lovely. A LWF would be cool too... but I think that's where JR will fill in once healthy. In the interim, we have enough cover between: Lennon, Chadli, etc. I even think Mousa could play there if needed.
