It is, if he is fit.
I like Lamela, always give 100%, but his passing in the final third has been poor.

If one of our attackers is being moved on, i would rather see Lamela go than Moura
Even as some who thinks Lamela is the better footballer I'd still prefer to move him on over Lucas. We should be aware as much as anyone after the last couple of years that the best ability is availability.

Even with a pretty modest fee of £15-20m, Lamela going back to Roma (probably the one club he'd most like to go to) would probably cover a large chunk of the Bale outlay. He's had a fair few contract renewals so is probably knocking on £100k by now.

selling Lamela would leave Lo Celso and N'Dombele as literally the only midfielders capable of playing a pass in the final 3rd. I'm serious when I say a Winks-Hojbjerg-Sissoko midfield would struggle to put up 5 assists per year even in the Championship.

We would need to replace him with another creative CM/AM if he goes. Herc has said we're in for one, so fingers crossed Roma do hold some interest.

I'm sorry have you watched Lamela play. As much as i love his effort, on the ball 9 times out of 10 he runs with his head down until he's fouled or loses possession. He's not got much of a final ball at all. That said i don't disagree with your statement that we lack players that can connect the defence/midfield with the attack.

The big IF Bale comes back selling Lamela back to Roma would complete the circle in that he was the player ear marked to replace Bale and took the No. 11

Not sure Lamela ever was seen as overly creative. He had his moments, which where few and far.

He’s not perfect don’t get me wrong but he also will be very important for the Europa League. Imagine breaking down a parked bus Hungarian team playing for a point, with Sissoko Winks and Dele in midfield. He must be replaced with a CM/AM if sold, not just Bale.

Always thought the players and management give zero fucks about numbers compared to the players.

Is there any links to him leaving? I can’t see anything since this has been moved over from spurs chat

Why sell either?

We play a 4 man attack.

Son Dele Bale Kane Lamela Lucas Bergwijn

We have a relentless schedule, no decent breaks, and several injury prone squad members.

We need the depth and we seem to have it, and quality. Why weaken it? It’s not as if Lucas or Lamela are fetching decent fees this side of the recession anyway.

We will have a better picture tomorrow about where Lamela stands. If he didn't join the team to Bulgaria, then he might be on his way out.

I see Lo Celso as the heir to Eriksen behind the front line. That leaves 7 players for 3 spots. 8 if we sign a second striker.

This is where we diverge. Lo Celso has always looked more comfortable at CM, and mainly played there including at Betis, it’s just that he was by far the best player in a mediocre attack there so even from CM he dominated their goals and assists. Only about 1/3 of his league matches that year were at AM.
