Granted I've only watched some youtube highlights of him but he has an uncanny resemblance to a certain Eric Dier in the way he plays IMO, albeit slightly more aggressive. That doesn't fill me with confidence.

Looks like a real unit that loves defending. Also, another leader type character.

Wonder if a straight swap with Dav would work?

Didn’t get that in the slightest. His positional anticipation looks more advanced than Dier. Plus, he seems a lot stronger and more agressive.

Looks as though he was Bremer’s replacement at Torino, flashbacks to late summer. I assume Fabio will be involved

You've said this quite a bit mate - I'd hate to find a really simple solution to it all, but - and hear me out - have you thought about signing up for an account given that you seem quite keen on what stuff says on there?

People make the effort to look and find things to share them - I don't necessarily think it's fair that they have to transpose them. Different if it's not written in the language that this forum is based on - but otherwise, do you think that might make yours and everyone else's life easier?

Much love. Stoofio.
Equally its not much effort to do a screen shot ;)

He’s not spectacular and I have a few concerns over his acceleration in this system but he’s a solid defender who still has room to improve and his versatility to play LCB and RCB is a big bonus. At £28ish mil this certainly sounds significantly more plausible than Silva. Even if Kane leaves I just don’t see us paying whatever crazy fee Benfica would want, i could really be in the €70+ mil area.

If we aren’t going to splash the cash on big talent and we aren’t worried about getting a HG option then at the price reported Schuurs would be a solid move.

On a side note, if we are really interested in Silva I’m surprised we aren’t interested in Scalvini. Would be another very good younger option with extremely high potential. He still needs to develop some but he has an incredibly high ceiling and is already at a very good level.

What does his pace look like?
He’s not slow but I wouldn’t necessarily call him fast ether. He’s a big guy so his acceleration isn’t the best which is my concern but once he gets going he can recover reasonably well. I wouldn’t say it was a dealbreaker tho.

Dan Burn seems to do ok, and I'd never say Romero was quick? I'd say Big Dav was quicker?

That’s Kind of my impression of Max Kilman too and yet Ange has reportedly ruled him out because of his pace. Might need to go and look at the two a bit more closely to see why Schuurs is seen differently.

It is worth remembering that Kilman is 26 where as Shuurs is only 23. I still think Shuurs has another level he could reach and he’s very much on an upward trajectory atm.

Average pace at CB is fine as long as they have good anticipation and can hold the line
If last night was anything to go by, pace in defence is very important. There's so much space in behind us that if it weren't for Davinson's pace and brilliantly-timed tackles once he got back we could have been another 2 or 3 goals down.

Surely for the money you just get laporte instead

Schuurs is 5 or 6 younger and probably on considerably lower wages than Laporte.

I am not saying you are wrong, but I can see why the club might lean towards Shuurs.
