You got me there. Good stuff
You got me there. Good stuff
True and agree, although doesn't change that he's not good enough but yea he did fine enough today so probably no need for this thread to have been bumped with criticism to be fair.Indeed, such a weird time to choose to criticise him.
I think he needs to go to a bottom quarter epl side and get regular minutes. He’s not going to make it as a regular top 6 player.People saw him as the shining light of the youth team and as the next big star to play for England in our academy. I think the issue is nowadays you have to be a lot better technically as a CM to be a top prem player. Press resistance is everything. He lacks technique and but works very hard and has excellent application. Unlucky for him it’s not enough.
What does he do that is very good?I honestly think he always does, just that some in here expect way too much of the lad.
He's very good at what he does.
Pissing you off for a startWhat does he do that is very good?
This - 100%I think the issue is that he doesn't cover the ground that Sarr and Bentancur do so he doesn't work well
In the 8 position. He doesn't have the close quarter quality to play out of a press that Bissouma and Bentancur (again) do in the 6. He fits better in a 2 man midfield, as does Hojbjerg. They're not dynamic enough for a midfield 3 with this brand of football. It's simply a matter of having a new style now and certain players like Skipp, Hojbjerg, Dier and Richarlison don't fit it well. That doesn't make them bad players just a bad fit for us.
He presses well and reads the game very well, strong in the tackle and with good positional awareness. What does he do that is very good?
He’s barely played any minutes. Højbjerg lucky enough to be getting game time with Denmark to keep him up to match speed.Thought he wasn’t anywhere near the level required when he came on.
He had plenty of minutes towards the end of last season to judge that he’s not good enough. He’s a nice lad but lacking the required level of qualityHe’s barely played any minutes. Højbjerg lucky enough to be getting game time with Denmark to keep him up to match speed.
Oh we are judging players based on last season are we?He had plenty of minutes towards the end of last season to judge that he’s not good enough. He’s a nice lad but lacking the required level of quality
Hasn’t been at the level required for a while tbh, playing the way we play I don’t think he has it in him, maybe that could change if he gets a good run of games but can’t see it myself.Thought he wasn’t anywhere near the level required when he came on.
Honestly I think he’s top end of the Championship level or at best a relegation or bottom 5 PL team.Hasn’t been at the level required for a while tbh, playing the way we play I don’t think he has it in him, maybe that could change if he gets a good run of games but can’t see it myself.
Think the best way is to separate this summer, can become a decent premier league player but I feel staying here will only see him stagnate, needs to be playing regularly.
Improved to there from a Sunday league player in a single minute though, so who knows where he might end up?!Honestly I think he’s top end of the Championship level or at best a relegation or bottom 5 PL team.
