People saw him as the shining light of the youth team and as the next big star to play for England in our academy. I think the issue is nowadays you have to be a lot better technically as a CM to be a top prem player. Press resistance is everything. He lacks technique and but works very hard and has excellent application. Unlucky for him it’s not enough.

I think he needs to go to a bottom quarter epl side and get regular minutes. He’s not going to make it as a regular top 6 player.

I think the issue is that he doesn't cover the ground that Sarr and Bentancur do so he doesn't work well
In the 8 position. He doesn't have the close quarter quality to play out of a press that Bissouma and Bentancur (again) do in the 6. He fits better in a 2 man midfield, as does Hojbjerg. They're not dynamic enough for a midfield 3 with this brand of football. It's simply a matter of having a new style now and certain players like Skipp, Hojbjerg, Dier and Richarlison don't fit it well. That doesn't make them bad players just a bad fit for us.

What does he do that is very good?
He presses well and reads the game very well, strong in the tackle and with good positional awareness.
He's quicker than he given credit for and his passing is pretty decent.
He's also a managers dream with the way he trains and follows instruction.

He hasn't pushed on as much as I thought he would and he's pretty weak with the ball at his feet, which can lead to losing possession when he's pressed but maybe that's down to composure and not playing much?

I don't think he's going to set the world alight anymore like I used to hope he would but he's far from a bad player.
I'm not sure he's going to be good enough for us going forward as a first team player but he's a very handy squad option to have.

We've gone from one extreme to another in just a few years, from massively overrating Sissoko (who couldn't play football) to underrating Skipp, who is a good player.

People sitting here saying how he's not as good as Bentancur, Bissouma and Hoijberg.... those a three of the best CMs in the premiership. He would've walked into the team under José.

It's just we have such good midfielders these days, it's like people need a scapegoat.

A bench of Skipp, Royal, Hoijberg and Davies is fine, just last season those same players were first teamers.

People just looking for problems at the moment. The only issues at the moment are Richarlisons finishing (hopefully fixed by Brennan), a lack of CB backup (hopefully fixed in Jan) and perhaps a good creative replacement for Lo Celso (Eze)

Keep in mind that when it comes to midfield depth up against the other top 4 teams (City, Arsenal and Liverpool). Skipp is additional cover that they don't even have someone for, and have to reach into their academy if needed.

Thought he wasn’t anywhere near the level required when he came on.
Hasn’t been at the level required for a while tbh, playing the way we play I don’t think he has it in him, maybe that could change if he gets a good run of games but can’t see it myself.

Think the best way is to separate this summer, can become a decent premier league player but I feel staying here will only see him stagnate, needs to be playing regularly.

Honestly I think he’s top end of the Championship level or at best a relegation or bottom 5 PL team.

When everyone is back he won't make the bench so based on that logic he should be an easy upgrade
