I think the stumbling block could actually be racism. The Adebayaor song was infamous. He has to have heard it.

What an absolute fucking crock of shit.

I'm pretty sure he would have found it offensive because his dad is dead, nothing to do with racism.

I actually think the stumbling block is his £160k a week salary.

Everyone i getting all worked up or nothing imho as no way will City sell him to us, or even loan him to us, whilst we are challenging for a CL position with them. It aint gonna happen lads so lets just move on....

Yeah, most of us kow that. Answering a hypothetical question and then explaining that answer does not imply an unreasonable expectation that this signing can and will happen.

Woah there's some proper delusion on this thread.

Sorry, but to be up with the big boys we've got to put aside pettiness and sign, as 'Arry would say, "top, top" players when we can.

Ronaldo and Ibrahimovich aren't just top players they're two of the world's best. Any ANY team with either of them in would be improved.

And as for Adebayor, in my opinion, he's rather good and exactly the mould of striker we need. If you don't think he's as good as I do, then fine.

Yeah, we know this. We also have some appreciation of the fact that one of our greatest strengths at the moment is the team-spirit and togetherness this squad as, and a justified belief that Adebayor would destroy that with his poisonous prescence. Simple, relaly.

And yet you are about the 10th poster who has ignored the constant explanations of this and sought t 'enlighten' us that he 'is a good player' (with one style of expression of another). And this inspite of te fact that most posts start with something along the lines of "He's a good player, but..."

I think he's good, he's always been good against us. He's got the talent, I don't think that's in question. What is in question seems to be his attitude.

And as for Mancini he's not a complete mug obviously, but one up front at home against your biggest rivals? Continually leaving Johnson on the bench? I'm not sure Mancini gets the Premier League yet. In short, I'd trust Harry much more to get the best out of Adebayor.

The finances are a different issue - nothing to do with how good he is.

The finances aren't a different issue. If he cost 2.5 million, I think most would swallow their objections.

Adebayor is the missing link. He would most definitely complete our team. I hope we can somehow convince City to sell him to us.

Higuain is out injured for a cpl of months at Real, so they'll not only not sell/loan Benzema but may also go for Adebayor

Well the Mirror think that Adebayor is going to try to push through a loan move to us and that City may actually be considering it. For £25m I'd steer clear because he has a few screws loose and it is a gamble (we may even be able to get better players for that money), but if we could get him for nothing with City paying half the wages I'f take him in a heartbeat. If Harry could get him fired up he'd be really dangerous.

Lets move to east london, lets buy a few more **** like adebayor, why not go for joey barton, lee bowyer and bring back judas whilst we are at it.....

Tell you what, we could wear red next season if puma offer us the right dosh!

I worry about the direction some on SC want our great club to go down.

Nothing to do with him being a gooner, nothing to do with race etc etc thats obsurd....just simple ..he makes my fucking skin cringe....A mercenary, a trouble maker, a TOSSER.

I am dead certain this argument was used as to why we should NOT sign Gallas. 4 months later and oh what master stroke of a signing by HR. If he will improve us and help us get 3rd or challenge in late April for that title then please send him over sooner.

Ask yourself why our two rivals for that 3rd spot, want shot of him? WAKE UP!
He has a history of unrest, City wouldn't loan him to their main rival if they thought he would help us.
Gallas was a bad loser, nothing wrong with that, adeybayor is a bad egg.

we really need a big strong forward who can score goals. for some Adebayor meets that criteria. i acknowledge that he has some baggage but he is not in Joey Barton's league. i think the hysteria and handbags stuff around him spoiling the squad with his attitude argument has no foundation as the same argument was used not to sign Gallas.

there is no way city will let him go to us, they stopped richards joining us and ended up allowing bellamy go to the championship and subbing practically all of his wages so we couldnt get him, they will not let him join us.

the 160k might be a bit on the high side but he would definitely be on over 120k+ a week and would not consider taking a hit in wages so there is no hope of him joining us.

i will make this pledge now and il put it in my sig, if he joins us either on loan or permanently i will give SC €50

I stated specifically that I was wary to, though not totally holstile of, the Gallas signing due to his repuation. I then make it 100% clear than in my opinion based on actions/statements anything Gallas did pales into cmplete insignificance compared to the behaviour and attitudes of Adebayor. Is that not simple to understand?

Posters have listed incidents, well publicized incidents, of this, and there really is no comparison with Gallas. I personally saw Adebayor 'not trying' in a very blatant fashion because he was sulking when he didn't get his move form the ArseScum - which is why they were universally booing him. I have little sympathy for them, but they will tell he was like that for the whole of his last season there. And I have been very clear, on this MB, about my views on booing - it should be a last resort reserved for players/teams who clearly aren't trying. The man picked up a very hefty wage for doing something he is supposed to enjoy (and most of us would love to get paid for), and then DID NOT TRY just because his management team made a decision they were perfectly entitled to make. You could compare it to BerbaGit, but at least the Bulgar still produced...Adebayor visibly didn't.

At the end of the day, if Mr Redknapp decides this is the right move then I thing he has earned our trust. But I think it is totally justified, based on well documented evidence of his behaviour and attitudes, for any fan, prior to this happening, when asked the question "would you like Adebayor at WHL" to voice very strong misgivings. Simple, really - do you understand this?

I really have to agree with SP here. To compare Adebayor to Gallas is just farcical based on the previous.

Personally, I don't care who a Spurs player previously played for if they help us improve significantly, but I am not convinced that this idiot would do that.

Plus, if £25m was the price then, personally, I think we could do a lot better for that kind of money.

This is, of course, all hypothetical because it will never happen anyway.
