One of my favourite parts of the match today was with Perisic.

Barca starting to get a bit too comfortable on the ball, so he just casually kicks a couple - including the keeper iirc.

Absolutely what we need with what might end up being a very young squad.

Echo this mate. I don't care less about the result, but this was a great watch and a decent tune-up game for our B team.

We all knew our defence was a shambles and would be exposed by the high line, but give Ange time to coach them and for the likes of VDV to bed in and we'll be scoring a lot more goals then we concede.

Lots of positives to take.
💯 mate 👏

Honestly anyone trying to defend this guy from here on in is simply trolling the forum. They have to be.
I remember the time he was back up to Dembele / Wanyama in CM and I have never got why numerous managers were convinced that he was a CB. I cannot believe I’m still saying this after 4 to 5 years. Not going to aim vitriol at Dier but surely now move him on.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to Dier (I am a bit) but I'm so sick of seeing him play for us now.

It's gone on so long and he's never been quite good enough, but in this system it's suicide.

We have to move him on. Even as cover he's no good for this season
I was hoping that he was carrying an injury at the tail end of the season which explained his limitations but maybe he's just not very good any more.

He's definitely not suited to a high line - maybe an old school team that sit and defend would be better for him - Everton under Dyche perhaps?

He'd be perfect for Everton....

Davinson was outstanding, probably MOM, Porro was poor defensively but improved in the second half.

Clear drop when we subbed the likes of Bissouma, Skipp and Peresic.

Maybe keeping Davinson as the 4th choice CB is not such a bad idea, he has the pace to play the role at the least.

Bissouma and Peresic should be first team imo.

Good performance if you take out the first and last 10 minutes.

A lot of praise this pre season for perisic. Although I think he has done well he is very very predictable

Not trying to defend him, we all know he's not good enough, he probably knows he's not good enough - but I'm not going to go in on the bloke, some of the comments I've read have been so over the top. It's the sort of thing that leads to the booing of players at the stadium, thinking of both Sanchez and Royal.

He won't play much this season.

Setting the tone. Keep him.

Can't believe the criticism Vicario is getting. Look at the "protection" he's had in front of him.

I'll reserve judgement until he's had a run of games in the PL with a better back 4.

If the big concern coming out of this is Reguilon and Dier, hardly a lot to be worried about. Reggy is likely to be sold and I highly doubt Dier gets more than a handful of cup games this season and then his contract expires.

A good coaching exercise to look back at that game and see where their goals came from and realise that's something we need to address. The one thing I was disappointed in was our seeming reluctance to put the ball into the box towards the end but no real concern. I think we've all been pleased at the way the players have picked up how Postecoglu wants to play but the reality is we're still bedding it in.

He will be a good sub to bring on against bus parkers imo. Just makes good decisions, makes clever runs and always manages to dig out a decent cross.
