Tottenham are lining up a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Bas Dost following Jose Mourinho's complaints about the laziness of his squad.

The former Dutch international has been identified by the manager as the hard-working target-man he wants to provide back-up to Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, as well as an alternative option off the bench.

Frankfurt are understood to want £5.5million for Dost, having paid Sporting Lisbon £6.5m for him 12 months ago.

Ok before you start turning redder than Alan Brazil after he's walked a mile to his local Greggs only to find out they've got no sausage rolls left, bare in mind this is a single article from the Daily Mail and it doesn't mean we're signing him.

TBF he's actually pretty clinical around the 6 yard box and remains one of the best headers of the ball in Europe.

Issue is that he's shit with the ball, requires his chances to be created for him, and lacks the pace or athleticism to be particularly effective on the counter. If he's our man then it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that our style of football will be becoming any more aesthetic anytime soon.

Best finisher I’ve seen at Sporting. Which admittedly isn’t saying a lot. But he’d be a decent shortish term signing. He’s very good at getting in the right position. He’s no Edouard, but he’d be useful.

How are we pronouncing Bas Dost then? Want to make sure I get it right when bemoaning how crap he is.

Sorloth or Dost.

I guess whoever comes down in price most as we approach deadline day.

Exciting as we can play one Club off another to drive the price down!!

To be fair I’d be happier paying cheaper prices for sorloth or dost and then have more money to spend elsewhere but that won’t happen lol

I'd rather sign Wout Weghorst if the money wheelbarrow is in Germany.

Yeah I remember we were briefly linked with him in Jan, he'd actually be a good signing if this is the route we're going down. Absolute pressing machine.

Levy must love the thought of getting 6’6” worth of man for only £5.5m, it’s like a signing and a half.

I can't shake that Bas Dost sounds like a German Techno band.

Is Das Bost one or something? They both sound like it.

That sound you heard was droves of Spurs supporters screaming “Fuck you, Levy!” in unison.
