Its open season for agents of strikers atm to link them with Spurs to either increase profile during the TW window, negoiate contracts potentially for more cash or generate a move or trying to levrage something in general for thier player.

Why hasn't Hitchen got his own thread. I am not sure how the man is still in a job. Some of the dross we have ended up buying and not only that we have bought good players that just do not play our system. Our scouting/recruitment needs a complete overhaul. Sack the lot arsenal have. Start again.

I am not sure you can blame Hitchen for us having players now that don't fit the system.
Most of our players were bought for when we had a progressive ball retaining aggressive manager, however we now have a defensive counter-attacking manager, it is no wonder we don't have players to fit that system.
The real question is should Jose have either a) adapted his tactics to suit what he does have at his disposal, until stage as we do have them or b) not been appointed, and another manager more suited to the style of the players we have been appointed, because the only other option c) fire sale all the players that don't fit and pay over the top for ones that do, and fully back a manager who has never been at a club for longer than 3 years and has worrying habit of falling out with his employers and players.
Personally as he has been appointed, it has to be a) he needs to adapt his way of playing to what players he has, although I really wish it was b) because I have awful feeling we will be in a worse state when he leaves than when he arrived.

I am absolutely stunned by another name being linked to us.

Stunned and shocked.

We'd be signing a striker whom for a period was second fiddle in the national side to Vincent Janssen :sneaky:

TBF he's actually pretty clinical around the 6 yard box and remains one of the best headers of the ball in Europe.

Issue is that he's shit with the ball, requires his chances to be created for him, and lacks the pace or athleticism to be particularly effective on the counter. If he's our man then it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that our style of football will be becoming any more aesthetic anytime soon.
His quality in the box is all well & good if we were actually able to get the ball in the box which seems a monumental task for us.

His YT highlights check out well. Are we annoyed because he's not expensive? Because he looks better on a video that some of the PL shit we've been linked to.

I've also had a further think, and his name also sounds like Sean Bean with a mouth full of cake.

I think we are annoyed because we have known we needed a striker for what now? two years? lets go with since Llorente so 18 months, and in 18 months we are pretty much nowhere with the striker search.

One thing is for sure - im finding it funny because im trying to think what name will crop up next after Bas Dost

I've not watched him often, but talking to a few Dutch friends of mine, they saw him as being a very limited striker who is decidedly average, though a capable finisher. Mind this was back in 2014 so maybe it's a bit different now.

For cheap he would probably fulfil the criteria. 'Meh', but that's generally my reaction to buying a new striker anyway. Yes we need to get someone in that position, we really do. But we don't need a world beater and whoever we get are not going to take us to the next level, just make us, hopefully, a little more consistent and give us a plan b.

FFS this is so depressing. Our player recruitment has been so bad for years now. SC genuinely has better scouts.
Exactly, dont understand why the club don't use youtube as a scouting tool i'll never know but then again im sure Spurs have a 'friend' at every club who watches our targets on a regular basis!
