I believe that Wilson would be able to play alongside Harry Kane. Maybe I am being naive but we set up a few times in a 4-4-2 post lockdown under Mourinho and I have no doubt that Wilson And Kane could work hard enough across the front to make it workable.

I hope that Wilson really isn't coming to be a pure back up because the best way to get the most out of any striker signing will be if you can play them alongside Kane imo.

I was under the impression there was a relegation release clause.

We going to let an actual Bournemouth fan waltz in here and act like they know more about Bournemouth than us? What has this forum come to?

The argument there is that the two would likely be Kane and Son in that case, as Son would be wasted as a traditional LM.

It is a nice option to have but I don't think it'd be a regularly used one. I could see us having both on when chasing a game however.

There was an issue with Son playing Left Midfield because he never bothered to work hard enough defensively and protect his full backs for a long time. Post Lloris bust up and after Lockdown he started tracking back properly and protecting Davies and was much improved in that position.

I remember Poch once playing Son at LWB against the Chavs. That did not go very well.

Kane and Wilson upfront together could perhaps be good for giving Sonny a rest once in a while. And maybe the LM position in a 4-4-2 could be a good opportunity for giving Sess some game time.

At 25-30 million it doesn’t really make sense.

That type of money could and should be spent to improve the squad elsewhere.

Can’t really see any club being willing to pay that kind of money for a backup. Only clubs that I can think of who could be dumb enough to do it are Everton and West Ham and West Ham currently are risking punishment for not making payments on the last striker they bought.

We only need him for about 15 games in all competitions which should allow enough rest for Kane. This could be an ideal move for him not to be relied to start every game and put extra stress on his body.

If it's a choice of Wilson and one non hg right back for the first team or Aaron's and one non hg backup striker I would take the former option.

Punting 25m on a guy who scored 3 goals in 24 matches with two major knee injuries would be a legitimately awful deal. And I usually don’t care about fees. For that money try to get Watkins, try to get Josh King, even Welbeck.

Let's wait and see, I appreciate the guy from Bournemouth's post but he's going to have his cherry goggles on when it comes to a fee. Usually these fee's meet in the middle.

Are you sure you are talking about Wilson with that 3 goals in 24 matches? Yeah and I bet that buying player with 3 major season ending injuries are better than buying player with 2 major injuries

Okay, maybe not Welbeck (though he did look OK in the two Watford matches I saw after the re-start). :ROFLMAO:

I’m just saying if it’s come to the point where we need to drop 20m plus on Callum Wilson there have to be alternatives. King and Watkins have always been my options.

We all know Watkins is/will be better than Wilson and we also all know that he won't come here at his age to be backup for Kane.

If we were a club with ambition we would not be looking for a backup striker but one who would genuinely compete for a first team place giving Kane and Son a reason to look over their shoulder. I have said this before MITOVIC, not only is he the complete opposite to Son, but we would then have the ability to roatate/compete for places. I have been told that MVIC would not come to sit on the bench, so tell him we are paying you wages to play not sit on your arse, and then make him an offer he could not refuse. Competion for places not old nags entering a retirement phase. Sell Pamela, MS and invest!!! in talent.
