Just because we haven't lost doesn't mean we should carry on playing him

Look at united they continued to play memphis upfront and so far moving rashford to the first team has served them better

He is playing well but he is playing well as an AM especially coming off the bench

He has played a part in 3 of our last 5 goals - two of those as the front man. If we need him to play up front he can do a job for a game here or there. He is no Harry Kane but then, who is?

He will never lead the line like a striker but he can finish, that`s for sure.

His goal yesterday was really well taken actually.

I'm really hoping that all chadli does in training is work on playing as a striker with his back to goal.

He's got the physique and eye for goal but doesn't yet know how to lead the line

Interesing stat but I doubt anyone would drop Kane just because of this stat

Harry Kane
Shockingly Tottenham have a higher win percentage (57) and lower loss percentage (14) in games that Kane hasn’t started this season than those he has featured in from the off (win 55%, lose 15%).

Nacer Chadli or Heung-min Son are more than capable of deputising in a central role to afford him some respite.

The former has struck six times in his last ten games, while the latter has netted five in seven appearances as a centre-forward this season.

Two days to go to the close of Jan transfer window. Its possible, we may not have any new back up striker. Just looking within the squad, Chadli IMO looks to be obvious backup. This is Chadli's 3rd season at Spurs. He may not be everyone's preferred starting XI player but end of the day, he does the job.

Goals Scored/Assisted per minutes played (all competitions) :

2013/14 (5 goals/6 assists / 1921 mins) - 174 mins
2014/15 (13 goals/5 assists / 2947 mins) - 163 mins
2015/16 (5 goals/5 assists / 1082 mins) - 108 mins

This stat of Chadli's is only behind Kane who had scored/assisted per 99min last season. Son this season has 118 mins.

Chadli can hold the ball & score on both foots & headers as well. He may not affect the game as Kane does but he has knack of scoring when least expected. Also, he is a player on the up. He was one of "the 7" who gets constantly ridiculed but to be honest, for 7m he has been a steal in hindsight. Pochettino has improved his game & this season after a injury spell, he looks fresh & threatening to score most times.

Other back up candidate - Son. While he is good, I guess he is still light weight for the upfront role. I would rather have him play RW than striker to get the best out of him.
Looking like a great post now.

Well done.

I love that Poch is finding even more ways of getting him on to the pitch in what is a crowded attacking group. He's not an out-and-out striker. He trusts his positional awareness and flourishes more when running into space, but it can't be denied that the ball consistently finds him in dangerous positions in and around the penalty area. Often times, he's putting good efforts in on goal.

With the way our attacking unit is setup, I really don't think we need a center forward that simply occupies the middle of the pitch in the most advanced position. The attack works so well because it's impossible to break down the pitch into areas and key on a single player, simply because we have all different types of attackers taking up different areas of the pitch. It's why I think getting Chadli involved works so well. He knows how to move and keep a fluid attack, and more importantly, he gets himself into good positions and obviously can finish the chances that come his way.

Not only that but he has created for us too..... I said this the other day after the Fiorentina match where most people gave him a 6 despite playing a role in each goal and nearly assisting a couple of others...... He seems to start most games on minus points in peoples minds when in reality he was scoring quite regularly for us from pretty much the moment he got here, he has never complained, never looked angry or upset, he clearly has a good attitude and trains well or he wouldnt be here getting the game time.

I love chadders and the role he plays for us. Cant look a bit lazy at times but bigger guys generally are. I think he is probably our best finnisher if i was to take my kane tinted glasses off. Chadli is a right place right time with a cool head kind of a player

Probably because kane hasn't started against the weaker opposition.

Since Poch arrived Chadli has 14 goals and 7 assists (all from open play I believe) in 3226 minutes of league football. Put into perspective, that's less than 36 full matches. Not sure how anyone can question this guy's place in the squad.

Using the same criteria:

Eriksen - 15 goals, 10 assists in 56.7 full matches
Lamela - 5 goals, 11 assists in 43 full matches

chadli has always been most effective as a sub, scoring against tired legs. but as a starter he never performs well enough for me.
