another Heskey for me. Has talent but won't score enough goals himself. Needs another striker alongside him who can pick up the pieces and Spurs don't have that type of striker.
10 goals in 22 for games in his first season in the PL. 4 in 5 in the Carling Cup.
at the age of 22 in an absolute awful team in which without him would be a lot worse off.
compare that to defoe who plays in a a far superior team; that create lots more chances.
good in the air; strong; can hold the ball up, has pace, a good shot.
all the attributes to be a top player.
even got 4 goals in 10 games for belgium. compare that with Lukaku who has 3 in 19 for belgium and cost nearly £20million.
and only cost £5million plus add ons.
he will not be at villa next year.
yet people dont rate him??
Were there offers for him in jan?10 goals in 22 for games in his first season in the PL. 4 in 5 in the Carling Cup.

any chance of us getting him? ...
some people on here are such jokers ...
the guy is 21/22, in his first season in england, playing for arguably the worst team in the league and he has 10 goals in 22 games. just look at his goal at the weekend where he breezed by the defender and cooly slotted home, or his thunderbolts against liverpool and west brom, or his back heel to weimann away to liverpool in what was probably the best team goal all season. he has some 10/10 moments and some 2/10 moments but that's understandable at such a young age and still adapting to a new league/country, you should be focusing on the positives rather than the negatives.
he's big, strong, quick, "proven" in this league, very young, can obviously finish, he's fricking belgian, can play up top alone, will cost a decent amount but is within our range. only a handful of players have scored more this season and all are playing for vastly better teams except for lambert at southampton. i don't know why you wouldn't want this guy.
people have been wetting their pants over damiao but benteke gets likened to emile heskey?

I disagree actually, I think many if not most Spurs fans would have been more than happy with us bringing in a relatively unknown or unproven young striker who has been showing potential in the last windowthe problem is that the amount of times i saw something like this posted during the window "we need to take a chance on a player before they become top level and beyond us financially", well that's easy to say but i bet the majority of players in question would've been scoffed at had we actually signed them while they were "unproven". everyone wants a proven top quality forward for max £15m, well sorry to break it to you but those don't exist.
saying lets go for him 3 or 4 years time is absolutely useless.
