He was still pretty bad in those games though IMO. He just does nothing all game, then may pop up with a goal every now and again. That's not good enough, I'd rather have someone who can pass and get involved but doesn't score, than Dempsey right now.

Love u mate!! <3

In one respect I'm kind of glad he didnt get subbed off because i'm fairly certain he would have gotten booed, or an ironic cheer when his number came up, and I hate that.

P.S. he is fucking shit though:p

Mate u are blind in that win against Man U. Look at the losses against smaller teams that we would have won easy. that is what matters not just a single goal. does that win against Man u keep bale ? does that make us have CL fotball? does that make us better than manU in the leauge? Not mate. it about consistency to be able to play good week after week. to preform more that one game a season. Dempsey wasnt even good that game. U have to open your eyes and realise that he isnt a good player. And please tell me when u was happy with a striker that does 5goals a season. Come On u Yids i thought we had higher expectations that that.

Lets say. would u be happy with ADEs (hole) season if he scored 5goals in the last games now, i wouldnt. A season i longer than one game "remember that
lol what? of course that win matters. it was three points where we could have walked away with one (or less). if we were 2 points lower than we are now we'd be fifth and complaining even more than we are now (yes myself included :bag:) . come on don't you think its unfair to place the blame of those losses on just one player. he might not have been great (i personally don't rate him) but he did what was needed of him and that's all we can really ask for especially considering he was a player brought in not to be the focus of our attack but as an extra option should we ever need it.taking recent events into consideration of course id be happy with a striker (which he's not btw) that puts in 5 goals considering the appalling form of our strikers this season. you're telling me you wouldn't take those goals?

He managed to plunge to new lows of uselessness today, lows not seen at WHL since Raziak left.

The highlight of the game for me was the comment from the guy behind me who after 60 mins shouted out " AVB bring off Dempsey, bring on anyone, put Friedel on upfront"

i should imagine he'll start again on thursday because we need a goal and defoe will still be injuried, but AVB is usually pretty sharp with players. He does tend to drop them eventually when they are blantantly poor

siggurdson was left out for a long time after figuring for much of the start of the season, only recently has he worked his way back

BAE is now out in the cold

Huddlestone was getting regular game time at one point now left out

defoe was AVB's falco but is now firmly number 2

same for Caulker who used to start more but now gets few games, probably less after today.

I'm hoping AVB has finally seen enough, if he provided chances then ok, but he doesnt. He doesnt score, he doesnt work hard, he doesnt win aireal battles, he doesnt help out in defence, he doesnt do anything.

a few deflected goals and tap ins back in 2012 that I could score in my slippers does not make him worth 6 million pounds or worthy of a place in a top 4 team

I really feel the Air-Miles are really catching up with Clint now. He's been a very good player over the last 4/5 years, but seems to be a shadow of the player he was last season. Constantly flying back and forth to America is in my opinion draining him. I think if he wants to have a decent career at Spurs, he needs to quit International football, but I doubt he will as he's such a hero over there.

99.9% sure we only signed him to increase our fanbase in the US.

That must be why. He doesn't suit our style of play, he offers jack shit, and he kept (a very talented) Siggy out of the team for half a season.

The dive topped off his shite performance, do one.

The problem with that list ItsBrois, is Pav, Bent, Keane2 and Saha never really got a run in the side which is pretty important. Bent and Pav actually got quite a decent return in goals per minute, better than Crouch and Defoe, but none of the strikers got enough goals.

As good as Berba was we have to remember that he didn't really scored that many either.
Berbatov scored 46 goals in two seasons for us.

Watching him is draining me.

I think that's one of the flimsiest excuses I've heard for him. He might just be THAT bad, all the evidence would suggest so.

You're including goals in all competitions. While it's nice to have players who'll score a few goals past the minnows we need strikers who'll get league goals.

all the evidence? like the fact that he scored 17 goals for fulham last campaign? LOL

So why can't he do that here? What is the problem?

My suspicion is that he gets less time and space on the ball due to our playing style and he just can't play in that environment. A lot of players struggle when they come here initially compared to how they played at their former clubs because we play in the opponents half but that also means that there is less space to pass and move in, far more congested. I think Dempsey doesn't really know what to do when he sees a bunch of players packed between the goal and him.

88 goals in 203 games in the Premier League? A goal every 2.2 games? 69 goals in 154 games in the Bundesliga? A goal every 2.2 games?

And that doesn't factor in the amount of those appearances that were from the bench for Man Utd.

He scored 28 league goals in two seasons for us, including against Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool (back then better than us). Are the minnows? He also assisted roughly another 25 league goals in those two seasons. 53 goals involving him in two seasons is very good I'd say.

He's good at getting people to make childish comments and in turn receive negative rep. Even though most of the comments have validity. Poor signing indeed.

if i knew why wouldn't i have let AVB know a long time ago? but i do agree that he hasn't quite adjusted to our style of play. even when you watch him his movement on the ball is slow. when he gets the ball he needs to first control, look around to see where he's going to put it and then move it along. that to me is a sign of lack of positional awareness and simply being too slow to act: both of which don't work in a high tempo system like ours. like i said before he wasn't an AVB signing which means that AVB never really intended him to fit in this system but rather uses him as an extra option when we need it
