Missed this game due to work - was it a decent reception in the end? Loudish cheers or pretty silent?

In each half he got a rendition of "Harry give us a wave", when he waved he was greeted by chants of Yido and "your Spurs and you know you are".

It was quite funny when he did it in the 2nd half, the QPR fans were not happy bunnies :D

I'm glad to hear that, when you hear the lunacy that goes on every time Jol comes back to the Lane, thankfully we're light years away from that happening again any time soon, I'm glad we could be a little respectful. We didn't boo Ramos when he came back, so I would have thought booing HR would have been bananas.

Good to hear! Did Hoddle get any mention?

I was at the Lane yesterday and was pleased he was acknowledged but little more than that

I really am not trying to start threads again on him as he has gone but my feeling was always he was wrong for Spurs from the beginning and he failed to exploit the opportunity that was before him. We could have been and should have been better during his time so a polite round of applause was all he got from me.

You can attribute that to 1 and a half seasons, what about the other 2?

You've unfortunately given an insight into how you felt by saying you thought he was wrong from the start, seems to have warped your opinion somewhat.

If you thought we 'should have been better' when we finished 4th with Palacios/Corluka/Crouch/Keane/Defoe/Pav etc then you're not really being fair to the situation.

I don't think booing harry was ever an option, it was just a case of wether he was ignored or acknowledged in some way. I think the scoreline helped, it was 2-0 when the first harry give us a wave went up & 4-0 the second I think.
I was glad we focused on the team and not him at the start.

His media speak did piss me off but he did get our one CL appearance I can't see how anyone could not cheer him.

Nice to hear he got a good reception. When he left I was pissed off at our failing to get 3rd but he did a great job for us. Undoubtedly the best football a lot of us have seen the lane (Born in the late 70's early 80's crew) and seeing us play in the Champions League was amazing.

I gave the insight purposely as I was not trying to start any debate merely expressing an opinion

I never believed that Redknapp understood how to get the best team on the park and especially how to tackle certain games.

As I said I was not trying to start a debate merely to explain why I only gave a polite round do applause

It would probably mean Champions League football so most of our plastic fans would too

Nah, would be the stage in the Europa when all the drop outs come in, meaning the crowd of 25k would only be tourists and kids and wouldn't know he was.

Or who we were even.

You cant express an opinion so narrow minded as that and not expect to be called on it.

I'm not even giving you a polite round of applause, in fact I'm folding my arms and looking the other way.

I didn't hear that in the east stand that so must have been a bit localised. I did hear a "Harry, what's the score?" which I thought lacked class.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

As I said yesterday he should get no reception at all in my opinion, good or bad. He is the past... Its the first match at the Lane of a new season with a new manager in place. Those who are there should concentrate 100% on getting behind our lot rather than who is in the other dugout.
I know it's somewhat late to comment on it now but I don't get how it would be difficult for fans to concentrate on a quick round of applause for an ex manager?!

Do what you like. It is immaterial to me
I was not wanting to get into Arry debate. I have expressed loads of other occasions the shortcomings I saw

Pro-Harrys saw him cheered; anti-Harrys saw him booed because of the cheering; neutrals were amused. Everyone's a winner!

my feeling was always [Harry] was wrong for Spurs from the beginning and he failed to exploit the opportunity that was before him
Seriously, you thought that? For me he was a lot less wrong for Spurs than his predecessor and his successor, under which Iberian pretenders I was scarcely even a fan of us, League Cup run and Gareth Bale genius aside. Harry was the right choice at the time (2 from 8?) and proved himself a good choice (exciting football, top 4 finishes, Champs League run). So far Levy's made better emergency appointments (Harry and BMJ) than calculated ones -- hope Poch bucks that trend.

He got us to the Champions league quater final, where we got knocked about by Real effin Madrid. People who think he should have done better are deluded. Dont remember anything like it or since in my Spurs supporting career.

People who booed him should have been ejected from the stadium with a shotgun.
