Good News.

Cover for Ben Davies at LB and competition to push each other on. A position we have been short of for a long time.

No need to push Jan out of position due to injury.

Can play Europa and initial LC games allowing players to rest.

More attacking defender allowing for tactical shifts, swapping to wing backs etc and a different option off the bench to change formation during a game if needed.

how is it possibly good news for the team? he is quite clearly not good enough, ultimately weakening the team
Mauricio, is that you?

I'd say the odds are pretty good that Pochettino sanctioned this deal, and as a back-up, Rose is a pretty strong option. He also gives us a strong bench option, with his attacking ability, if we are chasing a goal.

He needs to improve, no question about it (though, for the thousandth time over the last few weeks, in my opinion the right fullbacks need to get much better too) but last year we were playing lopsided, shambolic tactics that didn't help anyone and under a new manager everyone should get a clean slate. So far in pre-season Rose has played pretty decently and probably one of our better players. He has been at least as good as Davies. So far that's about all he can do, and its up to him to keep this up. Competition for places should hopefully improve both of them.

Remember contracts don't mean anything boys, Levy is just making sure we get as much money as possible when Real Madrid inevitably come in for him

We have some silly fans on occasion, something that we can all be on occasion obviously... but the negative over reaction to Rose is particularly silly when you weigh up the SQUAD advantages....

This is actually very good, Davies can't play every game and Rose is good enough to play in the cups and to provide cover. His problems seemed to all be a result of his positioning and this is something that will either be coached out of him or he'll be sold next season, I don't mind giving him the chance to prove himself though as it will be dificult to bring anyone decent in who'll be happy to play second fiddle to Davies.

Did not see this coming, interesting. Intrigued to see how he develops under the Poch!

if people are genuinely happy with Rose signing a new deal then the club should just give up... no ambition, no progress, no success. He is exactly the sort of player we should be moving away from

Good. Now let's fleece someone silly by selling him for an extra million.

In five years time football boots won't even have laces he can do up for someone.

Maybe he could introduce taking buckets of orange halves to premier league games. That could be his new party trick - it's certainly more useful than blasting the ball to Walthamstow from 35 yards out.

Agreed.

We need decent backup in all positions, and I doubt there are many clubs in the country with backup as good as Naughton and Rose at fullback.

My main concern with Rose is his attitude and whether he has what it takes to fight for his first team place (something which Naughton has shown). He's obviously shown Poch that he does have what it takes...so it's probably not the right time to start wailing in the streets in pain and anguish.
