All that was mentioned to me, and this comes from someone who said we made enquiries about Cavani and Asamoah(Udinese) in January, was that us and two other teams had made enquiries about his availability.

This is as close as you'll ever get to Diego being a Tottenham household name, your bedroom.

I'm 31, that's my wall at work, not my bedroom. That's reserved for Pamela Anderson and other scantily clad women. At least it used to be when I was 17. More dreams...

Anyway, as ever pointed out, back to the ITK, of which there is very little.

I don't actually think we've got any ITK on Diego, so sadly there's no point even discussing it further.

Is Diego still the same player he was a few years ago when he was at the top of his game? How come he didnt go to the world cup? How come he is leaving Juve after just 1 year? (genuine questions as havent seen him play for a good few years!)

Isn't part of the point of this thread that we get to discuss to tenuous potential ITK (like Thowigs comment) that doesn't get deemed worthy for the read only section? If not then this thread is completely pointless and we should go back to the individual ITK thread system.

His omission was partly down to his poor season and partly down to Dunga's hatred of unpredictable characters, hence no Ronaldinho despite being a one man team at Milan last season.

I've never heard of stories about Robinho having a party boy life or training problems.

but he is well known problematic character. IMO Diego is being raved about because of what he did a few years back - if he was so good he wouldnt be available 1 year on at a much lower price than what he was brought for.

Despite doing very little IMO at club level for some time now - He seems to always produce the goods for Brazil. That's why he was at the WC.

Im not debating that - i am just saying if Diego was good enough then he would have gone surely? Why is he unpredictable?

Diego rules, I'd say he's better than Ozil, though Ozil could surpass him in the next few years. It's crazy if he's going to Wolfsburg for £13M!

As DP said above though, Diego's better in the middle behind the strikers than on the wings so it'd probably be tough for us to fit him in.

He hasn't really settled at Juventus but he was very good at Bremen for the three previous seasons, and probably the best player in the Bundesliga for two of those three.

Wasn't Diego in great form before he joined Juve? Wasn't Melo on great form before he joined Juve aswell? After the season they had, i'm not surprised they struggled. I wouldn't read too much into the season he has just had. Modric hardly had a great first season for us.

Plus Diego is still only 25.

Diego's best football has been at the top of a diamond midfield behind 2 strikers. He seems to struggle to adapt to any other formation.

You bloody tease!

Diego had a poor season last season, but who didn't at the Old Lady. He has a hell of a lot of talent, and a lovely pass and shot on him. I reckon he's the closest thing going to Riquelme, and if we played an attacking midfielder in the hole off of a centre forward, Diego could be just the trick.

I seem to remember you having a go at me for suggesting Diego a few months back? What's changed your mind?

It appears you are suggesting that is the other players who are responsible for Juventus poor season, and nothing to do with Diego and Melo! Maybe if they had performed to the level they are capable then Juventus would have had a much better season. The fact Juve are getting rid of Diego on the cheap kind of suggests they think it wasnt the others who underperformed.......

Depends what you mean by 'some time now'. He was less than spectacular for Juve last season, but for Werder he was often superb—although he does have a shorter fuse than Rooney and is even easier to wind up.
