Steffen Freund: Well, a few months ago, I picked out Emre Can as someone who's already a great all-round player. He was my captain in the Under-17s. Young players at Bayern Munich are under particular pressure and making the breakthrough with Bayern is definitely going to be hard for Emre. I think he would be playing regularly at any other club, but it's tougher at Bayern. There are others, like Samed Yesil, who's now at Liverpool, but I think it's very difficult for these kind of players, moving to a big club so young. All-in-all, breaking through at the top level is perhaps the biggest and hardest step in a footballer's career and many have failed to make it. I'd tend to err on the side of caution, but I have to say that I worked with a lot of promising prospects in the Under-17s and many of them have gone on to play in the Bundesliga.

I have seen absolutely nothing of this player. Freund obviously likes him, which must be a good thing as he'll know whether he fits the squad or not. I'm guessing he'll be a squad player but who will he relace? What kind of midfielder is he?

We wouldn't take him on without an option to buy, but why would Bayern give us that? Granted they have an embarrassment of riches atm but from what I hear about this guy he's far too promising for them to be letting go of at this stage. If it were to be purely a straight loan with no option then at 19 it could well take him six months to a year or so to settle in properly. Then he'd be off again. What would be the point? We're not Sunderland or QPR so I can't see us agreeing to something like that.

Don't understand this one.

Surely too young & inexperienced to overtake our main CM's (Dembele and Sandro), so would be a squad player tryimg to get game time (he's apppeared 4 times fo0r Bayern) but Spurs have Carroll trying to break in and get game time, and Luongo (if not loaned out) also trying to get a little game time as well as a Championship/lower PL loan.

So why give valuable playing time to a Bayern youngster rather than our own, unless we have an option to buy (unlikely) or its part of a wider deal.

And I can't see him coming to Spurs Development squad - he's playing for Bayern munich 11 already

His contract looks like it's up in a year, don't see how a loan makes sense for Bayern unless they've completely given up on him.

Could be similar to the Falque deal? We brought him in on a loan first and then purchased. He may just want out of Munich, similar to the Tom Ince story that was posted.

Would make good financial sense if we're worried about Sandro recovering. Can offload Livermore and Hudd without compromising squad depth.

This I completely agree with. Just makes no logical sense to me. After all, even if we do have a buying option we would still need to offer him enough playing time to persuade him he has a first team future so he wants to stay... Otherwise why move away from BM ? What about Carroll or Holtby, one would have to be sidelined to give him some playing time. We should be focused on developing our own squad not others.

Maybe Carroll is going to be loaned out? It would make sense, he deserves to play on a regular basis.

A young, promising German midfielder would be a good move if this was a loan-to-buy scenario.

His value could skyrocket given that he's 19 and really looks the part.

Saw him play recently against Italy or Spain - can't remember which - at U19 level and he was the standout player that day. Already better than what we have in his age group (17 - 21).

The commentators were mentioning that he's on the fringes of the Bayern team and trains with the senior Bayern team as well.

Also, I've just seen he's been called up to the U21 team for the Euro Championships.
