He's popped up on another 'one to watch' list, this time from football 365:

3. Emre Can (Bayern Munich, Germany)Emre Can was one of the stars of Germany's squad at the under-17 World Cup just last summer, and his inclusion by Rainer Adrion at an age group years above his qualification is a testament to Can's potential - the player only turned 19 in January. After that tournament, German coach Steffen Freund described Can as "the most complete player" he had seen in his career at such an age.

A holding midfielder of German-Turkish origin, there have been initial comparisons with Nuri Sahin, but Can is additionally able to operate as a central defender. Having made four league appearances for Bayern towards the end of their all-eclipsing season (including scoring the winner against Freiburg), it will be interesting to see if the step up to tournament football is as easy - Can is yet to win an Under-21 cap. If anyone can, you suspect that Emre Can.

If we are after him, I suspect that his flexibility - DM, central defence, AM - is probably a big pull for AVB, who seems to like his players to be multi-faceted and verstatile.

I would think he is not competing with Sandro, he is versatile and I reckon we would be looking at CM so he would be challenging Dembele for his CM spot.

Then again if we ditch Scotty Parker we need back up there so perhaps a utility player can do the trick.

I'm starting to really like the idea of this guy. Sounds technically very good, plus atheltic and versatile. All the hallmarks for the hardworking fluid style of football AVB is trying to promote. Hudd has technique, Livermore athleticism and Parker leadership and tenacity. Sounds like this guy is a good blend of all three players. Seems eager to go out and get more gametiem rather than sit in the reserves, which in itself is promising.
He wouldn't necessarily be a banker starter for us, but would very likely be a useful bench option, giving him more opportunity for competitive games than at Bayern. So the story goes, Freund is a huge fan of his, and the two have worked together at Youth level for Germany. Being away with Germany U21's this summer, the very same squad as Holtby, so a good chance to do some selling of the club.

Sandro, Dembele plus A.N.Other (Belhanda?) starting in a midfield three.
Holtby, Sigurdsson, Can and Carroll as alternatives on the fringe.

Agreed, now if only we could get some solid ITK about him. Somebody track down KJH!

Netherlands - Germany U21 EC currently on half-time. Emre Can is on the bench.
I'd say there's a chance he'll get some time on the pitch because Germany didn't really impress during the first half and especially their playmaking was poor.
