Like his attitude, but I also like that Southgate is being positive and supportive of him doing it.

I was gutted when Naughton got sent off not least because it will mean yet more games where Dier is forced to play out of position in a poor team.

It's often helpful for players, especially defenders, to spend some time playing in other positions in addition to their favoured one, to give them a better understanding of how the position works and relates to others around it.

But this repeated playing of him at RB (not that we really have much other option) isn't doing Dier any good anymore IMO, in fact I think it's denting his confidence.

I'd really like to see him line up alongside Vertonghen in the middle, as I think he's destined to become a very, very capable CB. He reminds me of Cahill a lot at the moment. But Kaboul will never be dropped unfortunately, if we're lucky we might see this in a EL game.

It could potentially have the 'Smalling' effect.

I know this might sound crazy, because I can barely remember it myself, but there was a time when Smalling, the CB, wasn't shit. Lack of game time and sticking him at right back has completely messed him up. I hope Dier doesn't suffer the same.

Yep, I said similar in another thread - poor boy has really been thrown in at the deep end and seems to be struggling. He needs careful support and progression, NOT being played out of position while adjusting to a new league. We're going to ruin him if we're not careful..

This implies that if Naughton wasn't sent off we'd have a cat in hell's chance of seeing it anyway!
True enough, i was going on the logic that Poch tends to select players he has worked with all week during international breaks, which would mean Dier would start at CB assuming he does train at CB.

But on that logic, and because Dier will have to play at RB, the two CBs who will start against Hull are Kaboul and Chiriches

I'd like him playing centre back but one plus with him playing games at right back is that he's been getting used to the pace of the premier league and learning more about playing at the top level. Sure it's not in his ideal position but the game time will be helping him get used to the league.

Only in a newspaper do you come across words like 'paymasters'.

Up there with 'war chest'.

Not happy with journos this week eh Bobbins?

Poch ready to raid Southampton, could Rodriguez soon be earning his Spurs?

This is going to haunt me throughout the whole international break. I might just start drinking now to be honest...

Dier@CB and Chiriches@RB has gotta be better than the other way round, surely? Their respective physiques are certainly more suited to those roles.

Were they down your local or was this reliable info from 'some bloke off Twitter'?
As reliable as my best mate and a spurs fan who runs a top club in london(libertine) can be ? I was in there a few weeks previous and saw Lennon rose and naughton off their heads! Lennon didn't turn up for training the next day and hasn't really been involved since. Is it because you don't want it to be true that you mock my info ?

Dier will get his chance at Centre Back. When Walker gains full fitness and Yedlin arrives at the club they will both occupy the Right Back position. Naughton will probably be moved on.

That would be the ideal situation for me, so long as Walker appears fully recovered. Selling Naughton and Chiriches in January sounds reasonable. I'd love to sell Kaboul but that's not feasible with him being captain, etc.
