correct, but I'd go a bit furtherI'd be perfectly happy with Dier being involved in the squad moving forwards.
It's our reliance on him being our main CCB that is the issue
our only, chosen CCB is the issue

He needed to be sat down. Whether fatigue, or other, he has had a shaky few games.
But, I liked that he came in and started getting things organized again. - he even looked a bit more refreshed and confident.
We could use another defender in January so that Dier has some completion and rotation when needed.
(that could be Lenglet - if we brought in different competition for Davies at LCB)
As long as we don't ever see it again we'll be alright. We have bodies but not quality.
imagine a back 3 of Sanchez Lenglet Davies ?
not disputing your information though
Can I give myself a winner award ?As long as we don't ever see it again we'll be alright.
I really like him at RCB, he has a decent cross imo
Romero played CCB at Atlanta albeit a slightly different role. I wouldn't mind trying him there
Its quite the opposite, Dier's weakness is his passing range, he constantly gives the ball away, compare his passing range to what Toby used to bring to the table, its chalk and cheese. Half our problems of dealing with teams who press us is the inability of players like Dier to find a teammate and not constantly give the ball back to the opposition and in turn bring increased pressure.I really like him at RCB, he has a decent cross imo

his biggest weakness is that he doesn't close the ball down because he is scared of pace against him that's why when he is pushed wide he is so vulnerable - unfortunately as the central centre back his position dictates the defending and as his default action as a defender is to drop off that leads to the back line dropping so deepIts quite the opposite, Dier's weakness is his passing range, he constantly gives the ball away, compare his passing range to what Toby used to bring to the table, its chalk and cheese. When Toby played teams were very wary to press us, as they knew his ability to ping a pass through/over the press, did it many times to Dele for goals, Dier unfortunately does not possess this skill.
The problem with Dier is that he can be ok but he is so fragile as a player he makes a mistake and falls apart he then quantifies it by hiding and not doing his job usually by backing off to ridiculous levels not engaging the attackers and hoping he doesn't get punished. The disappointing thing is that he is probably not the worst we have but he plays in a key role in the sideYesterday, they all made terrible passes but not as much their fault as it might look especially in the first half. Our WBs and CMs were playing right on top of them no real passing angles and the ball was not sticking to Son or Kane as they had no one to lay the ball off to when double teamed. In the 2nd half, it was better for everyone once the CMs played up the field a little providing more space and better angles for the passes.
I think Dier is a key member, if not the key member of our defense. Results when he has been out in the last year back that up.
