I’m so glad I’ve already been to Nou Camp and Bernabeu, don’t have to line their pockets again, corrupt ****s.

I unfortunately think this will eventually happen, I just have that gut feeling that when push comes to shove, Real/Barca/Juve will force the other non prem teams to eventually do this, probably tell them that this is the only way to level the playing field with the prem, they are all in financial hell and need a bailout desperately.

No but they could appeal it to the UK courts and the Supreme Court could overturn the law. Just because the government passes a law doesn't mean it can't be overturned.
The Supreme Court cannot 'overturn' an enacted law. It can rule whether an action taken falls within the law as set out, but that doesn't change the law - only a subsequent act of Parliament either to amend the law or repeal it altogether can do that.

This is quickly becoming embarrassing for Madrid and Barcelona. For all the talk from Madrid and Barcelona (haven’t seen whether Juve have said anything) about this signalling the end of UEFA’s power, it seems to be signalling the demise of Madrid and Barcelona’s power instead. Of course they are still two of the biggest clubs in the world - maybe the two biggest - but there is now enough of a global audience for other leagues and existing UEFA competitions, and the global branding of the other massive clubs is such that Bayern, PSG, the Milan clubs and the EPL as a whole don’t feel like they need Madrid and Barcelona as much as the opposite appears to be true.

It’s also so transparent - as Rumenigge has said - that this is designed to strengthen those two clubs at the expense of the powerhouse that is the EPL that I don’t see any incentive for English clubs to entertain it.

What would be really funny is if every other club not involved takes steps to reduce the power of Barca, RM and others that want this to happen (if any). No transfers or loans to or from them, no supporting them whatsoever. Isolate them and let them crumble away. If they want to do this on their own let them, they can play on their own island and everyone else will work together; let them reap what they sow. Can you imagine two of the most self important and up their own arse clubs in the world floundering for years? The meltdown about how unfair it is would be legendary

At this rate they are going to change it to global super league just have it be Real, Barca, Juve and like 5 Saudi teams and 5 Qatar teams.

For me this is another reason city and Chelsea need punishing accordingly. European clubs might look at the pl and think they’re the richest anyway and can still get away with taking the piss, super league might even it out a bit

Why all the fuss about a breakaway league . The Premier League is a breakaway league is it not.
Seems to have worked out quite well.
The problem with the original idea was that it had some of the top clubs as permanent members. The lack of jeopardy killed it with supporters. Bit naive if the people behind it to think that would ever happen. The profusion of American owners these days doesn’t help matters as they don’t have relegation in any of their sports.
The idea of a European league does not fill me with joy. Will be too many matches of little interest .
Reading between the lines it is said that they want 3 leagues with promotion and relegation between these leagues . Consequently most of the bigger clubs who start off in the top league will never be out of European football. You will only come out of europe if you are relegated from the 3rd level league .
If a club like Leicester won the prem lge they would have to go in at the third level.
Rather stop with the. competitions as they are Even though it’s the same teams in the knockouts most years.
Are the Saudis going to turn up with their billions and wreck the game .Supporters are not blameless …..all we hear is buy this and that . Takes money so clubs chase the money.

The more this goes on, the more it becomes clear it is just a shakedown by those jealous of the PL riches. Barca and RM are welcome to join the EPL if they want, might take a while though to work through all the leagues.
This is it.

Real and Barca have only themselves to blame for fucking up their own league by refusing to co-sign on broadcasting rights as a league rather than for themselves only. That's meant the other sides are financially reliant on Real or Barca for academy graduates, buying their players and gate receipts.

They don't realise having a strong Girona, Bilbao and Atletico makes their product more attractive even if they lose out on a small amount of titles

Read Spurs’ statement carefully wearing lawyer-goggles. This was 100% written by lawyers trying to sit on the fence.

We are not committed to UEFA and make no commitment to participate in UEFA competitions in future, nor interested in FIFA at all. We are committed to “European Football”, which of course includes the concept of a Super League, should it exist.

All we’re saying is that is that if/when there is a breakaway, we want the ECA to be involved.

This whole thing just needs to sod off.

It's an awful idea and if Spurs joined it I'd be furious...in fact I'd likely be looking for a new club.

But as others above has said it would be idiotic anyway. It doesn't benefit anyone other than Real and Barca as far as I can see.

Waaah, Barca and RM have fuct their own league through their decades of self-serving corruption and greed that puts even the rest of modern football to shame and now want everyone else to bail them out, whilst learning no lesson whatsoever.

That's all this sounds like to me.
