But this is Spurs.... so you know if they did sell Mike fucking Ashley would buy us

(I know he cant, but still)
Why would he be any worse than Lewis? I think Ashley actually even invested his own money to inject liquidity into Newcastle early on before he gave up on the club. Unlike Lewis, at least Ashley would attend our games.

Other teams, such as Man City, are way ahead both in quality and squad depth compared to us. It suits them more to look for more goals when they are up, because their entire team is good on the ball and can recycle it until they see an opportunity. The same cannot be said of our team. Who in this squad would you trust with the ball when a press comes along? For me it's only Kane.

Therefore until there is material improvement to the quality of our players, there's no point even trying to playing in another way. Sometimes your best hand isn't good enough and that's the case agasint Chelsea.

Not saying we will score 10 goals but you can visibly see a shift in the teams mentality when they go a goal up. They stop pushing as hard and seem to coast. Other teams may be better but you act like the position you want to be not the position you are. If we keep acting like a mid table club it will not matter who we buy. How many managers have talked about how the teams mentality has to change? Pretty much every one of them since Harry. Regardless of who we play we should go on the field with the attitude that we want to destroy them, not just win or steal a point. When we score a goal we should be looking for another one. Even if we don't score it, we should be trying to.

Just my opinion but we really need to change our mindset if we want to be challenging for trophies and 1st place on a regular basis.

I think thats the key. I'm all in for this but I don't think it's realistic to expect or demand it. As you say managers talk about it but can't implement it.

I dont really buy the 'mind above body' argument. It seems like a fairytale. It's like asking an inferior player to believe they can win when a better one is pressing. It doesn't make sense to believe it.

But I think we have the same conclusion. I dont think we will be challenging for trophies or 1st place anytime soon.

You’re obviously on the wind up with that comment. If you can’t see the difference between our ownership and Ashley’s reign at Newcastle then you’re truly blinkered.

If you believe the Summer is going to be any different then you are in for a surprise.

It doesn’t matter who’s in charge for us, our spending policy remains the same.
Sometimes it may not be about spending. We may have the money to satisfy everyone but our stock is not as high as it is in the game. Whilst our offer may keep one player interested one of the big guns coming in with a similar offer will no doubt be more interesting than ours. We would have to pay significantly more in wages to turn their heads and even then a players heart is still set on the bigger club.

I don't think that he was attending Newcastle games for a while before the end was he? In fairness it's academic anyway as he wouldn't have nearly enough money to buy the club anyway.

That's about the gist of it. We all can see something we don't particularly like on the pitch, it's just we all have differing opinions as to what some of the causes are. Ultimately any anger I get when I read a lot of comments is not about the comments, or the poster themselves, more that it's reminding me about other aspects of the club that is frustrating me. How odd that we've managed to have an actual discussion on an online forum

We've probably promised him a big summer overhaul and he's probably semi-understanding of the issues that January brings. But if pre-season rolls around and nobody is in there is a chance he could walk away imo. He will absolutely want two or three major names in by the start of July you'd think, and if Dele, GLC and Alli are gone in this window there will be absolutely no excuses and nowhere to hide for Levy.

I just cant see us being in a position next season to fight for the title like he wants, our squad now cant even compete in the ECL and we have needed our top players to play in that and still went out, how are we going to cope in the CL or EL and then prem games which we would need to play our first 11 in pretty much both games mid week and weekend if he wants to fight city and pool and chelsea and be competitive, the squad needs soo many new faces and he will want them in for a full preseason to adapt to his system and methods etc and we just dont work that quickly we drag most transfers out over the course of the window to get as cheaply as poss I hope I'm wrong

interesting tidbit of info from a Sky Sports interview with Antonio last week via a mate who was there -- Antonio spent much of the interview complaining about not having any signings yet and not having any money to spend. THFC then saw the cut of the interview and demanded Sky edit all that stuff out of the broadcast version.

If that was the one with Vicky Gomersill then there’s something in that. She mentioned similar, but I’m not so many words, on Sunday morning on SSN and then went on to say she didn’t think sky would show the whole interview.

I thought it a weird comment at the time so went looking on the Sky Sports website and none of the interview was on there. Not even the 2 minutes but they did actually show that morning on SSN.

We need to be proactive now ready for the summer. Who remembers when Liverpool signed Salah for £35m in 2017 and then Neymar went for a ridiculous amount and the values went sky high. That was all about being proactive and the reason why Liverpool have succeeded in the transfer market compared to other teams around them.

If Fabio is the managing director we all hope he will be, then I would expect at least three deals agreed prior to 1st July.
This argument that there is more value waiting until the end of the transfer window is a myth and always has been. It all depends on circumstances of the player and the club you are trying to negotiate with.

Levy has proven time and time again he is willing to sacrifice points at the start of the season to save a few million. We got lucky we won our first first 3 games this season but that doesn't always happen.

We need to be more aggressive in the transfer market and that does not necessarily mean chucking money around, it is about a mindset change for this club at the top.
