Who's gonna be televising the 2018 then in this country? Usually it's BBC and ITV. Who is it now then, ITV and FIVE?

fifa must be laughing at this, the english media specifically the rags will blame this on bbc and the fact that fifa is the most corrupt organisation in the world (not an exageration i challenge anyone to name a more corrupt company/organisation that is still in existence) will go unresolved and the two fifa members who were suspended for being bent and jack warner who is one of the most untrustworthy individuals in the organisation will not face criminal charges which is a joke.

damn right that fifa's corruption should be exposed and hopefully now the likes of news of the world will try and expose more of fifa so that an overhaul of it might happen in the future

The British Government, The US Government, The Russian Government, The Chinese Government, Al-Qaeda, The Taliban

I could go on the worlds fucked buddy money over everything with these ****s nowadayzzzz back to sleep we go :sleepy:

I agree it isn't their duty to help England's WC bid especially as they wouldn't have been broadcasting the games anyway but is it BBC's duty to sabotage Englands bid under the premise of free reporting? Why did they show it three days before the vote? Why not six months ago, or two years ago? Their claims aren't new news so once again why air the show three days before the vote?

I think it's time the BBC were heavily audited to see what they do with license fee payers forced payments and to what extent their news service is politically influenced.

The silver lining in all of this for me is that it will increase support for BBC losing its charter.

Shows like Panorama have the same journalistic rights as any other media. They chose to show it three days before the bidding process because that was when it would get the most attention, and it should get attention because it is a massive issue.

You can't bury the news three months before the deadline just to keep Fifa happy when it is Fifa who are corrupt in the first place. If you're happy for us to get the World Cup based on joining in with the corruption that is obviously deeply entrenched in Fifa then fair enough.

For me the integrity of the game is more important than England getting the World Cup and the BBC did exactly the right thing.

Actually Panorama may have requested the show be aired three days before the vote but the final decision to air it then came from the BBC

Since the allegations are around 20yrs old they've had around 20yrs to air the corruption including in the run up to other WC biddings. Why wait till England are in the running?

For me the integrity of the game is more important than England getting the World Cup and the BBC did exactly the right thing.
BBC's decision has nothing to do with the integrity of the game.More fool anybody for believing that. BBC are hiding behind that excuse but everybody knows its a cop out. BBC didn't want England hosting a WC where BBC were not a partner in broadcasting the games.

I sincerely hope that documents proving BBC intentionally sabotaged England's bid come to surface soon and take us one step closer to them losing their charter.

Russia I can understand, I'm sure they had a strong bid and I'm not surprised that the FIFA old boys club decided to punish us for trying to expose their corruption.

But Qatar? That absolutely reeks of a pay off, what does a desert country with no footballing heritage whatsoever and a population of about 1.7million have to offer? Money

I totally agree the biggest shock is that qatar got it not russia, it was ranked life threatening to players and fans and it has ten stadiums in a area smaller than greater london

and now they are talking about moving it to spring or autumn, I honest felt Australia or USA would get it, how could korea make the 3rd round when they hosted it 8 years ago

2022 proves that they are a bunch of corrupt bastards along with Zidane

The only reason I can think that Australia didnt get it was because of the time difference.

I would much rather have seen S Korea or Japan getting it...leaning towards Korea. The last WC in Asia looked fantastic...shame its now going to be in Qatar.

I'd much rather Fifa be brought to justice rather than the BBC tbh, why on Earth should the focus of the witchhunt be diverted away from the biggest crooks of all?

I listened to it on 5 live and the commentator said there was a slide in Russia's presentation that highlighted Western Europe has had ten World Cups, and Eastern Europe none, just seen another clip on SSN with the head of their bid giving a speech, and have to say he's played a blinder talking about how Winston Churchills view / foreigners view of their country was outdated, and he came across fantastically. Added to Blatter wanting to leave a legacy of taking the World Cup around the Globe, its not hard to see why they won.

Qatar on the other hand, is a baffling decision at best. I suppose it needs to go to that region at some point, ans they do have oodles, yes oodles of money to make it happen.

Maybe the all the press about corruption in FIFA, the Birmingham-Villa game last night, and Lord Treisman have alienated England in the football community but I dont think they ever were front runners here.

i'm done with International Football after this, England are crap anyway.

I've been done with the England national team for roughly a decade now and I'm only 25, but it's a massive shame we won't be getting a World Cup here any time soon as it would have been enjoyable to go to the other matches whcih would have been much easier to get tickets to

I heard something on sky sports, that there is elections for blatters post next year, or the year after next. The main contender is the head of the indian footabll association who is from Qatar........will be interesting to see if he conveniently decides not to challenge

Because a US world cup = money for FIFA. This is shown by the fact that Wembley would be the 13th largest stadium in the US by capacity. USA 1994 still holds the attendance record and the last 4 world cups have had 12 more games.

and most of the rest of the country didn't give a hoot.
Maybe England get 2026. Euro 96 WC 1966.

The whole process stinks. Cant believe the 2 most unsuitable and oil rich nations won. or can I...

Interesting that the World cup winner was chosen as a country that does not have a good record of free press and that Putin didn't even bother to attend.

Has anybody else read "How They Stole the Game"? for those who have, nothing is shocking when it comes to FIFA and its decisions.

The only problem I have with the panorama program is that it felt more like it was jumping on the bandwagon, nothing it reported was new, most of it has been public knowledge for several years.

South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, Russia 2010 all countries where many live well below the recognised poverty line whilst a small minority wine and dine as billionaires. The same Billionaires who have caressed the FIFA delegates for years!

I am just so dissapointed that I wont have the opportunity to safely take my children to watch the World Cup.
