I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you think there’s a system Kane can’t play in I have no idea what you’re taking about. There isn’t a manager on earth who wouldn’t jump at the chance to make him fit his system
I didn't say he can't play in it but, for example, I think there's a reason why Klopp's Liverpool has never been linked with him, despite winning the lot with Firmino as their 9. So there's one manager on earth to start with.

On fire tonight Trix. Agree with it all. Club need to have some balls and go for it, by retaining Kane and getting 1st choice options in required positions. We’re not winning the league next season by keeping Kane…but maybe we’ll push right up it. If he goes, god only knows where we could fall to if things go poorly

But he hasn't made it clear he wants to leave.
Has he signed the contract without us realising then? I’d say that would be a pretty good indicator.

Ange wants commitment from his players, it seems like his whole ethos. Can we really say ‘Harry Kane, I’ll give you one more year then I’m off’ fits into that? It’s like taking a hot bird out simply because she has no better option.

For all the talk of systems, which I get, the best managers still buy the best players they possibly can

So do you think if Kane stays Ange drops him for Richarlisson because he's a better fit?

I mean to be fair, I don't think it is a case of dropping Kane if he stays. Kane would likely have to adjust and is more than capable of doing so! However, I don't see why we wouldn't build a team that would perform better without Kane. Wouldn't be easy but is definitely able to be done. Newcastle player for player are not necessarily better than us. They don't have a Kane.

If we can't build a team to be better without Kane we may as well give up and say that's it.

Isn't it more a fear of seeing him leave for suck all next season to another PL side?
There's nothing to say he won't end up at one of them anyway if he doesn't fit in in Germany or his missus hates it etc.

My guess is he goes to Madrid next Summer if he's a free agent and wants to leave. No way on earth they won't be in for him on a free and no one turns down Madrid.

Nope.

But doesn't change the fact that he's open to leaving and if he doesn't sign we're in the same position next year in terms of life without him, gone for free and probably to a PL rival.

Sorry but I think that's rubbish. Pick any ten other players and add Kane and it's an improvement on any ten players and a.n other that we could afford.

Yes - unless Kane adapts.

(I full expect Kane to adapt to Ange's tactics if he stays, but if he does not, then Ange will drop him. And, I expect that Ange will sub and rotate him more often than Mourinho or Conte would)

Pep’s currently the top boy and arguably the best ever, whilst city don’t tend to buy galaticos they tend to buy the best mid 20 age group, he doesn’t buy random’s to fit his system

Yeah and more likely to be in Europe(than without him) with extra revenue and really only a striker required in that window.

Of course he wouldn’t. Anyone suggesting that, or thinking we wouldn’t be worse off without Kane are surely just using that thought to come to terms with their loss. Kane drops too deep and doesn’t run in behind enough for “Angels system”? I’m sure it wouldn’t take long for Ange to work it out - I mean, it wouldn’t be rocket science for players as good as say Kane, Maddison and Son to perhaps workout that when Kane drops deep into Maddison’s space, Son runs in behind with Maddison shifting into Son’s position etc etc.

But surely that team would be better with Kane in it?

thank heaven you put that caveat in there. Kane's football IQ is off the charts. He would likely figure out a way to further exploit Ange's philosophy.

I'd personally take another season of Kane and a gamble on him signing a new deal despite the threat of him walking to Utd/City/Liverpool on a free. To dare is to do and all that.

Selling him now for me would be the risk averse, safe move. I'd rather not be led by fear or business reasons.

Does feel like as decent a time to agree a sale as you can get though this summer with all the conditions though, which makes me suspect the deal ends up happening.

This weekend will be interesting. I'd expect us to be very busy with ins in the coming days if we've agreed a fee today.

As an aside I’m 44 a bit too young to remember hoddle properly but Gazza’s by far the most talented English player I’ve ever seen, I think scholes is massively underrated but gazza was pure talent, no English player has come close since imo
I’m 44 too. I remember seeing spurs on the tv (I’m not a local) a few years before, maybe 86-87 and I fell in love with the atmosphere and the kit and the badge. It pulled me in. I can’t remember much of gazza before he arrived but what I do remember is I was excited. He lit up my formative footballing years, he was magic with endless talent. That F.A Cup goal is probably my favourite memory as a spurs fan considering the occasion and opposition. I had a Gazza duvet cover for ffs, in his England kit doing the Cryuff ☺️ When I got a season ticket a few years ago for the first time I was ecstatic. It’s been a shit couple of years but being on the high St, making the journey was incredible to that kid in me that loves this club. I got one! I’m up here with the proper fans! I made it! Harry is a part of that joy and for me the more meaningful one. I admired Gazza but I WATCHED Kane. His passing ability blew away anything I’ve seen. His finishing, though I didn’t see a lot of it because of the great defensive managers we had, was fantastic. I think, overall, talent and magic alone isn’t enough to make you the greatest, if it was then Gazza would be mine too. Harry doesn’t need that magic and edge, though he has it but maybe not as intensely, because he is literally the best in everything else that I’ve ever seen.
