I will give him my all heart, as I did with AVB, and I will probably cry like a bitch the day Levy decides to broke what doesn't need to be broken.

A lot of factors come into play so it is not a definitive decision.

For example I believe that AVB would have had longer tenure despite heavy defeats if there were not other negatives going around. He did not lead fron the front in all cases ( taking responsibility) there were accusations of him sulking over not signing his "pet" players, that there was player unrest and a couple of other minor issues in the mix

If the manager was developing the club he would be given more time than if he wasnt ( I put Redknapp it that category) It is not just about a season at a time and particularly of Spurs if he ensuring there is a continued revenue projection ( impact on gate receipts, sponsorship, overseas popularity player development and several more)

Note AVB and Redknapp used as illustrations not knocking them

I think the best we can ask is two seasons. This based on failure to deliver objectives = sack. Exceed objectives = Move to bigger club. The managers position is no different to successful players that we have had, It is difficult to keep them when the lure of cash and silverware is passed under noses from the likes of Madrid etc

I think that's actually going to be a tougher challenge than you're giving the manager credit for.

Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Man Utd aren't exactly bad teams.

Although Everton made a big jump last season, Sherwood's points average was marginally better than Martinez'. So it should have been, our turnover being £60m more than Everton's. If we don't achieve par and sixth, questions are going to asked.

It depends, if he finishes below 6th two seasons running and we don't win a cup or at least have a very good cup run, then it's not better than Sherwood. If he wins something or gets close to winning but we finish below 6th then I would say give him more time. I think he has a hard job but if he can unlock the potential from some of the players we have like Lamela and Soldado we should finish 6th and maybe even do better.

I think its time to settle. We need continuity, we've tried hiring and firing and it leaves the club on tenter hooks. The players don't perform,.. nor do we. This will never happen but 4/5 seasons is what I have in mind. This season he could come anywhere but bottom three and I still wont want him out. Its time to back.

That still only gives him two transfer windows Mullers. The first one not really knowing his team! It would be great to limit somewhat our expectations and give him 4 seasons min.

The footballing landscape has changed beyond recognition since as recently as the 1990's.
The ideal of appointing a manager of a club of at least our size, and standing by him for a defined period of time simply cannot happen anymore. Too many things have changed in football for that to be allowed to happen.
1) Player power. Bad manager = player exits.
2) Compensation - Failing useless managers simply will not be big enough to resign anymore, they want their compensation package.
3) Media baying for blood on a weekly basis.
4)Stakeholders interests
5)Marketing
6)Television money

I'm sure other people could put another 20 reasons that sticking by an inept manager would be catastrophic for a club even of our stature.

You should only stick with them if they are giving reasons to do so. As soon as you start to find reasons to part company there's a problem.

Unless things are really really bad, then he need at least 2 seasons.

I guess by December we'll all have a better indication of how Poch is doing and where we are. If anything like last year, there'll be 6/7 teams in the hunt at the top - hopefully we're one of them.

It would be good to give him the full 5 years, realistically though if he finishes below 6th place twice with no real signs of progression he will be sacked.

I will give him a couple of pre season games at least, I think that's fair.

If he hasn't impressed me by then he can fucking do one ;).

In all seriousness, unless he is proven to be completely out of his depth then he has to be given two to three years. I'm not one of those who thinks our squad is good enough, so I think Poch is going to need to be some kind of miracle worker to get us any higher than 6th anyway.

That is pretty much my thoughts as well, i would like to see him given longer but if the situation is how you describe then the boo boys will start and we will climb back on the roundabout agiain.

I think it will be more a case of how long Pochettino decides to stay with us

Got to agree with this. A catch 22 situation, if he does well then he will be head hunted by one of the big European teams, if he doesn't produce something exciting and challenging then the boo boys will once again win out.

Sir Alex was pretty average for his first 3 seasons...sometimes persistence and patience wins
