And how is that working out for you?
Premier League have said that the games not selected for TV in October, you can watch on pay per view
Charging £15 a match isn't how you beat piracy.
Thankfully there’s only one of our games (home vs Brighton) that’s not scheduled to be on Sky for the rest of the month, so while I won’t be paying £15 a game to watch it in my front room, I won’t miss out on too much.
you can kind of see the thinking behind it when an average match day ticket is £50.
Not in the current climate...Not even that, match tickets for a family or a group of mates is seceral hundred.
Instead, someone pays £15 and all their mates come around to watch it. In that context, I can see why they've tried with £15.
It's way too expensive as a one-off, especially as they're still getting their Sky money.
Also the infrastructure is already there because there's a television crew present at most matches anyway, they just aren't broadcasted. Which means that the increase in cost of production is minimal for the additional matches. But profit goes to clubs, so I'm ultimately fine with the price if the matches are online.Urgh... I hate that I understand their logic.
Cause essentially these games weren't going to be televised otherwise, right? These are the 3pm games and other games that aren't super sunday or MNF etc...
So it's £15 for a game that you wouldn't have otherwise been able to see.
Games that you only would see if you bought a ticket to the game which is looking at £50+
By that logic, £15 makes sense especially if you can factor in families and or multiple people watching one game etc...
Still... during a pandemic when unemployment is rising and everything, £15 per game can sound a little steep and you do have to wonder if they could have done it cheaper?
I doubt they'd have been able to sustainably keep showing every game live as they had been doing so I understand that stopping whilst finding a way to still make games available and get some income in (which I'm sure the PL clubs will get something out of to help themselves).
Ultimately I don't think there's anyway they could have won in this scenario. They can't keep just putting them on Amazon, BT, BBC and Sky... and with fans not in stadiums they can't not make games available.
