Levy is excellent in these areas, what he's not excellent at is being a DOF as well.

I feel he is clearly trying to be involved in too much... to the detriment of the squad.

Love Levy? lol. Lets hold a open top bus parade where we can wave money instead of trophies.

And how close were we to any trophy before he even came.

Without the billions of a sugar daddy, this is the only way for us to improve, slow and steady. Some people just want instant gratification even though it is clear that we have improved over the years under his leadership.

And stop judging him purely on transfers. He is the Chairman and not a bloody DOF. At least be fair and judge him in every aspect that a Chairman should be judged against.

He has his flaws but so does everyone else and no one here can deny that he has really put effort into building the club and no one can seriously deny that the club has progress under his leadership. If you want instant gratification then I will advise you to support Manc instead. He is in for the long haul and I for one am glad that we have him with us.

I believe he is doing it from a pure negotiator point of view and I agree that he will benefit from having the advise of a competent DOF with him.

Just cannot think of many who are good and available. Look how Commolli screwed Liverpool up. I suspect Levy reined him in during his tenure with us too as he probably will have gone trigger happy with our funds.

DL/AVB have done some good job with our new signings but our midfield he a bit short with creativity once we failed to land Moutinho and I am not convinced that Dempsey is the right answer for our front line problems, especiallt at the right wing.

So selling our best players for profit is something we should as fans be happy for? We have no squad depth in certain positions surely that is a priority?

We have squad depth! (only mentioning the good players)

Ade, dempsey, defoe
bale, lennon, sig, dembele, sandro, parker, livermore, hudd
bae, vert, gallas, kaboul, walker, caulker
brad, lloris, gomes, cud

I believe is a very balanced and strong squad

Agree.

I think Levy does a good job as chairman. He has no business being a de facto director of football operations.

More first team keepers than strikers is very balanced?

Thowig ,

Daniel Levy is a nobody who landed on his feet due to his uncle making a packet .

He fiddled his way into becoming the major shareholder of Spurs through a convertible preference share scam which is wrong , wrong , wrong . Whatever you or me may otherwise think of him (and I think he is an above average chairman) he is an unscrupulous character (crook) who has only got where he has got through financial jiggery pokery of doing other shareholders out of their dues .

That is not opinion , it's evidence based .

I'm glad if they managed to get Clint Dempsey to sign before the window closed cos I think he's one hell of a player and in fact much better than these glamour boys in Europe we were being linked with .

Dempsey is the first striker we have signed who can even be mentioned in the same sentence as Berbatov .

SO (currently) its 1 I love our chairman type to about 4 Levi out type threads....Perhaps there is some hope...I have never been able to get my head around the Levi love in......and equally i don't really care how he came to be in his position. Like you i think he is, when all said and done, pros and cons weighed up etc, an above average chairman, though with a massive blind spot...I can actually imagine him, ala Steve Cogans, Dearth of a Salesman, in front of a mirror, saying i am a Tiger Roooarrrr! and muttering to himself,,,,must negotiate,,,,musssst negotiate....

We have needed 2 top strikers for god knows how many years....We know it, everyone else knows it....It took till last year to get a loan of a pretty good striker, on LOAN, from a team desperate to get rid of him, so desperate that they paid most of his wages...and then Nearly the whole window to secure Ade service...Hardly anything deserving a pat on the back....Because The whole world knows we need to get in strikers...to get a very good one, we will have to pay over the odds, we will have to bit that bullet....sometimes you do have to lose a little to win big. Is spending big a guarantee? of course not, its why you have "footballing people" to try and limit the risk.(how good a player actually is, and will he fit in prem etc)

Then we have our Dead Wood....Most notable are Jenas and Bentley, No one is going to pay a fee for them, So does it really make sense to keep them and paying out their wages ( around 100k a week for these 2) Because our Chairman, always want to get "value" or just give them away on a free, and move on...Actually maybe the Bentley was the catalyst for Levi's aversion to spending "big" on a player...(yey we can now we can all blame Bentley! :) )

TBH Levi at times is like a spoilt kid in the play ground, and wont play unless eveyone plays be his rules. this normally results in this spoilt kid, going home alone, (and growing up to be a bureaucrat, traffic warden, or a forum mod ;) ) ultimately failing to get what he wanted...Mouts........(Does selling Mods and VDV and then not securing Mouts count as an epic fail?) Still when all said and done was this Window so bad?

IMO...No.

GK Lloris......a great addition,and needed

CB Vertonghen.....a great addition and needed

Then you have of course ..Modric out.....We all knew he wanted to out so no problem

VDV out....id you are a fan of football, you have to love watching VDV, But if I am honest and use my brain instead of my heart, He was a bit of a luxury, One that you always wanted as a starter, but perhaps made the team as a whole working unit, a little of tilt. Sad to see him go, but all in all im ok with it.

Then you have, Dembel, In....I have not seen to much of him, hey who wants to watch Fulham? But what i have seen, + read...a good addition...See him as a regular CM

Sigurdsson, TBH i see him more of a squad rotation player, good cover, fairly creative, works hard,

Dempsey, The Fact that he was available for most of the window, and we brought him Friday night, Does suggest last minute panic buy dot com. I actually think He will do ok, For me he is Back up to Ade / replacement for VDV..We needed another "striker" and that IMO is what he has been purchased for.I actually think he has more goals in him than VDV

Adebayor...This is more like keeping a player rather than signing one...

If this test of a good window, is are we stronger or weaker...........Then i would have to rate it in the middle, right now i cant say better or worse, just different.

Balanced you say, only good players you say...... More 1st team GK than strikers, only one LB(unless you want Bale there) Using the name Livermore / Gomes and good? The attacking / striker / where are the goals coming from, Is still our Achilles Heel, and has been for several years....Will it hurt? Time will tell

Rez, its a fair point you make....but you you support and love a club for decades it tends to become more to you....dare I say maybe even more important to you than it should be.

The last few years have been the first glimpse I have ever got of our club being one of the top clubs....eveytime I turn on the TV and I hear somebody mentioning us on the same par as Arse or even challenging for a title I get butterflys.....sometimes when I seen our team line up on tv I had to pinch myself.....for the first time in my lifetime we had a squad comparable with Uniteds, players like Modric and VDV playing in a Spurs shirt.....Unbelievable stuff.

You have to realise this is why people are getting so upset....tonigh for me has been one of my worst as a Spurs fan I can honestly say because I can feel all that good stuff I mentioned slipping away!

I dont enjoy because a sour c**nt...I dont enjoy moaning and I dont enjoy being negative about my club...I wish to god we could have signed Moutinho and kept VDV..I would have loved to be celebrating tonight but I am not.

Somebody got it wrong and it could prove fatal....as a Spurs fan that really hurts and I am down about it....fvck knows the girlfriend doesnt understand (I am well in the bad books now) but at least I can voice my feelings on here and there are others who will feel the same and understand.

I hate being pessimistic....but nowhere near as much as putting a false face on things.

I am fortunate enough to be older and have seen us as a top club. The fact we punch with the big boys now is because of Levy. Look, I am not happy about Moutinho, but other than that I think it's been a fine window. For all the "flair" we had last season, I still remember the horrific feeling at Villa away when, about 30 mins in, you just knew we wouldn't win despite everything. Our "flair" did fuck all for us that day, ditto against Norwich at home, wolves at home, QPR away, etc...Modric is a wizard and yes, we will miss him. But let's give it a few months and see what happens before consigning ourselves to misery and woe...

Best new training ground in Europe.
New shiny stadium on the way.
Does business by the book.
We are financially strong.

We are lucky, very lucky. I'm not overly excited by all of our signings, but it's a solid window. Anyone who can sign Lloris for 8 mil is just incredible considering how tough Aulas is.

Support the manager now please.

Hear hear.

last season we had 3 world classplayers i believe; Modric, Bale and Rafa now we have one - Bale. How can this be a good window?? Do we thing sigurdsson will be the new rafa, who will be the new Modric our creative genius?? Why the F@@k did they let Rafa/Modric go without first of all completing the signing of adequate replacements??
I feel a season of mediocrity coming on!!
Dembele could be good but not enough!!

Daniel Levy is like a silent Jerry Jones except he doesn't 'splash' the cash.

We need a sense of perspective.

At the end of last season, after failing to qualify for the Champions League, we knew it would be hard to retain and bring players in.

We are rebuilding. I would have loved a bit more craft and guile, but I'm hoping that will arrive in time.

Dembele is an excellent buy.

other club's fans are reading this and also think we are acting like spoilt ****s.
I couldnt give a shit what they think, we just lost our heartbeat... I dont think people realise just how bloody good Modric and VDV are at football. I've always been pro levy and was pro redknapp and started the whole race to 1st thread so im nothing if not optimistic. But shit mate,
WE JUST LOST LUKA MODRIC AND RAFEAL VAN DER VAART AND REPLACED THEM WITH DEMBELLE AND DEMSPEY.

We are definitely allowed to be pissed off today. Definitely.
