He said that he can't by quality players with Spurs so he left for Chelsea, i don't him here because he didn't want to finish his business in first place and even didn't make good job.

If there are a need for DoF role again, I would Comolli back who did far better job for us, but this DoF won't happen with Redknapp in charge, so it is nonsense to talk about it now.

bring back arnesen as academy director with a view to reviewing the coach position in the summer. then we should look to bring back jol and complete the dream team. if jol is not ready for a return having arnesen in place will enable us to look at managers (hiddink, hughes)
and also coaches (jol, gullit, schuster, roberto martinez, poyet, klinsmann) so arnesen can step up to full dof if we go for a coach, or remain as academy director if we go for a proper manager or decide to stick with redknapp.

I liked Reto Ziegler. Anyone know how he is doing now?

Anyway. I would love Arnesen And Jol back. So much. More than anything. I loved the way we worked then. Honest in the transfer market, nothing would be said in the media until the deal was done.

Arnesen and Jol were the best thing that happened at this club. (in the recent past obviously) And in true spurs style we fucked ourselves over.

Seriously. Lets make it happen. I will start a fund rasier or something. Jol-Aid anyone?

Really? I can't remember him bringing in too many players who were massively successful. In fact I'm struggling to think of many who are still at the club.

I'm as concerned as anyone by Harry's current transfer 'policy' but I'm not sure judas frank was really that much of a star in the transfer market for us. Also I'm not sure how he really impacted on the rest of the club, and he obviously hasn't impressed at Chelsea either.

TSH - you are technically correct, but IMHO (and I'm guessing, lots of others), his brief tenure oversaw a year-on-year improvement in results, and the overall startegy is purportedly to bring in young (in bulk), sell at profit, select few best with which to build a team - so were profits on player sales up or down under Arnesen (I would have to check this) - though i was really disgusted with what he did, and kinda feel he deserves it (laughing all the way to the bank, as he suffers, of course).

Ultimately, of course, it was made clear that 'Arry's and the 'postponement' of the DOF system were not conincidental!

Had the club installed Comolli or Arnesen as a Youth Development Scout or Chief Scout but crucially with the chain of command going up to the Manager there would never have been a problem.

This is how Man Utd and Arsenal have been run, very successfully, since God was a lad. Man Utd have Martin Ferguson traipsing around all over the world looking for new talent, identifies them; SAF tyhen makes a decision on whether to proceed and subject to board agreement David Gill flies out and ties up the deal. Simple really.

How can someone oversee 'year-on-year' improvement in a brief spell such as his? The first year he did okay, the next he did a little better... Then he left. Not exactly proof of long-term competence IMO.

there was never a problem with arnesen really. and it was never arnesen's job to be overseeing the youth. if he could come back as chief scout, then yes, but then only if harry's tactics work with him.

arnesen under jol could work, but a lot of us forget that jol was sacked because he wasn't changing his tactics and we started losing a lot. assuming jol has learned from that at hamburg, then he could come back and so could arnesen, but levy would have to go.

absolute fairytale and will never happen

we moved on from the director of football, but i think that if we had the opportunity to get arnesen back at spurs we should take it with both hands as we know that he has a proven track record of signing top class players

yeah, Arnesen bought some shockers but we didn't make a loss on any of them right? in fact I think we made money on all his players. Which is prob a big factor why we have cash to splash now. At least we didn't have to many Rebrovs with him!! Edgar Davids was a inpired signing, what we really needed that season..He fecked us over, even Jol was visibly effected by his move to Chelski so hard to forgive....

Agree

and you only have to look at our quality academy team to see the positive impact Comolli's setup and team had on our youth.

The key problem for me was the apparent lack of real cohesion with the manager who has to get these players to gel.

Comolli wasn't bad for our actual side and makeup of players imo. He brought us in Berbatov, Modric, BAE, Kaboul, Zokora, Bent, Boateng, Giovani, Bale, Malbranque, Chimbonda, Woodgate, Gilberto, Gunter, Hutton, Pavlyuchenko, Corluka, Bentley among others.

Say what you like about the performance of these individuals since signing for us but they were all either of a proven pedigree in their respective leagues and/or with massive potential.
