Is there anyone you want from the relegated teams?

Viduka, can still certainly do a job as an impact player off the bench. Doubt very much we'd want to pay the wages he'd want though

Wheater, Tuncay, Downing, Bassong, Steven Taylor, Brunt are probablythe only ones I'd consider - whether we need them or not is another matter.

A thousand nos to Taylor or Viduka. Taylor would probably cost more than Bassong and would expect more in wages and more opportunities to play. And he's shite. Viduka will be put out to the knackers yard (the A League) and that's about right for him. Our treatment tables are full enough as it is.

Bassong and Gutierrez if they're not too expensive, maybe Downing but I just can't make up my mind on him. Don't know if there are any kids worth a punt?

I don't get this love for Jonas, he is shocking.

Bassong I'd take in a heartbeat

No...I don't want anyone from the relegated teams. If we got him for peanuts, maybe Downing, but no-one else.

For all those nostalgic folk thinking Duff is the answer: the man is completely past it. Like Owen, he's lost his pace. We so wanted him in 2006 (I remember the ITK frenzy well, only for him to sign for some ridiculous wage at Toon). We had a lucky escape there.

Owen = might as well retire, no pace
Johnson = overrated
Jonas = tricksy but no end product
Viduka = past it, injury prone and fat
Martins = we don't need another diddy-man to go in our collection.

The only impact he'd have is in the canteen. Awful, awful attitude, happy to collect his wages and not care a jot about any club he plays for.
No coincidence he was relegted with 2 teams which should never have gone down.
Up there in my list of horrible "footballers".

if we could get him cheap and on decent wages then i'ld give owen a chance, with a decent midfield behind him and a manager who actually knows what they are doing might actually revitalize him

Probably only Downing, who I reckon we can get on the cheap now. Otherwise I'd rather look elsewhere. I think its a real risk to sign a player who's just gone through relegation and hasn't even been bothered to fight for the cause. Heaven's knows what sort of mental state they are in.

As for the long Forgotten Michael Owen, my prediction is that the small one will end up at one of the basement teams like Hull or Burnley and will expereince something of an indian summer. This is, of course, assuming that he is willing to take a pay cut and diesn't get arrogant about his choice of side.
