for free? why not? but money would be better spent at striker and getting another quality central defender.

wow ...we are saying no to joe cole???

if he hadnt had the odd injury or been a little off form..he would be off to real madrid with jose!!

get real people..joe cole coming would be amazing!
and with his mentor harry ,he would get back to his best in no time.
all he needs is a long run of games and a boss that trusts him.

cant believe some on here dont wont him?
i would carry him here on my back!

Jesus, how many central defenders do we want?

Alot of people on this board seem to think the ideal number of Cb is 117 and rbs is a similar number.

We have some top CB's in King, Dawson, Bassong and Kaboul

We also have one of the best RB in the league in Corluka with good cover in Kaboul and Walker

The only positions we could seriously upgrade is upfront and in CM

Joe Cole - Yes please. Quality player who would improve the team. I'm just not sure why he would leave a team thats winning things to come to us. He won't get more money here, would he get much more game time?

Can you imagine this poll at the start of last season - it would be almost 100% sign him up.

No.
Not the player he was.Injury prone, won't be an improvement in any event.
As pointed out in BPR's post he'd be difficult to fit into our squad.

Given Harry's knack of getting the best out of players, especially those which are deemed surplus to requirements despite obvious qualities, I can't believe the number of people here who think it would be a bad idea!

He is proven quality at the top level of the game, can operate in several positions, and we are about to embark on a season in which we really must continue to progress, and will almost certainly involve more games than last season..

And he is on a free.

Apart from a potential stretch on wages, I can't see a downside, especially if we are getting rid of keane (who had been our 'box of tricks' man), and looking at the possibility of a 4-3-3/4-5-1 next season, a system Cole knows very well.

Plus, I can call him 'Comedy Oriface' much more often. (Geddit, Joe Cole-- Joke hole-- Comedy Oriface... I would get my coat but i didnt bring it today cos its sunny.)

Without really thinking about where he would play, what system we will be playing next season and such things, Its a resounding yes.

Fantastic player.

I don't know if he's injury prone but his league appearances for the last four years aren't too impressive - 10, 33, 14, 25. As I say I don't know if he missed games because he was injured or not selected - if it's the latter it explains why he might want to join us.

+ corluka is also a top CB :)

the versatility of the squad is quite amazing, really

king (CB,LB,RB,DM) corluka (RB,CB,DM,CM) kaboul (CB,RB,DM,CM,RM)
ekotto (LB,LM) bale (LB,LM,and probably anywhere else) hudd(CM,CB) kranjcar(LM,CM,2nd striker,RM at a stretch) modric(LM,CM, ACM) wilson(CM,RB,) gudjohnsen (striker, 2nd striker, CM,LM,RM) hudd(CM,CB)
joe cole?(LM,CM,2nd striker,RM)

sign him up, and that croatian rb/rm fella

We've got Lennon, Modric, Hudd, Palacios, Sandro, Bale, Krancjar and JJ to fill the 4 mdifield berths. If JJ goes and Cole replaces him, the we'll have cover for every position in midfield. Very expensive cover though. Doubt these people would want to warm the bench for long periods.

I love Joe COle's skills and believe he will be able to provide Spurs with something extra, but I would only take him if another of the above players on top of JJ goes. And based on the above list, I dont think I want anyone of them to leave.

Ahhhhh.....WTF, just take him! He's good!

Our team needs the experience, he's a nice guy, will fit in with the English lads quickly and can't you just picture the team surrounding him after a Cole-Corker 15mins into our Champions League Qualifier.

Cole is better than anyone we have in midfield; he has a level of experience none of our player have which gives him a big edge. We would be lucky to get him, and he would easily be a constant feature in our side
