I'm sure at the end of the united game the players were all going up to him and hugging him.

I'm not bothered about it. I'd still take Lloris over most keepers out there.
I would too but at the moment there's something wrong between him and the defence. My guess is TS has tinkered with the high line strategy and Hugo isn't sure whether to come or go much of the time. He's a great shop stopper but his decision making is making everyone nervous, especially the fans.

He's definitely being conservative about coming for crosses etc.. He needs everything to settle down in front of him and tim has to get his ideas implemented firmly and once everyone is confident about what they and everyone else is doing we should see him settle down again and be as decisive as he was when he first came here.

He hasn't lost the ability he has shown for us; it hasn't gone anywhere, it's still there. It just needs to be reactivated through confidence.

I actually think the problems started popping up while AVB was still manager. It seems like he has trouble trusting the back four we've been playing recently, especially after the Lukaku collision, and the high line really exacerbates that problem (especially considering Dawson's lack of pace) That's what makes me think this is a temporary thing; now that Rose is back and once Vertonghen is healthy again I think we'll see a more decisive Hugo out there.

I've noticed he's been catching them more frequently in the last 2 games.

I don't have a problem with punching per say, as long as it is a nice clean contact and it goes miles. It is how keepers are coached in Europe in many places. At the moment he is just a bit hesitant though.

I agree to an extent, but I also feel that if you're trying to withstand pressure from the other team, and you're in a position to catch the ball - you should. I'm not sure if it was just me, or if I was looking for it, but it felt like he would punch absolutely everything that came his way.

I think the spirit and comraderie is great throughout the squad. Walker or Eriksen showing frustration at Lloris is similar to Soldado doing the same when Townsend tries to do a Bale. I'd be worried if our players didn't show some frustration/annoyance to each other as long as it doesn't go over the top.

I'm with just about everyone else I suspect. I like that he comes for 1v1s. I think he's the best 1v1 goalkeeper in the league by a distance because of his timing when he rushes out. He very rarely gets rounded, and he puts most players off. People underrate Hugo because a lot of what he does isn't really quantifiable. He constantly snuffs out great chances without most people noticing.

It's the damn balls down the channels he needs to chill out on. These nothing passes that our defenders can just shepherd to the byline, he can settle down.

The one thing I will say is that he's pretty fucking decisive about it, which is better than getting caught in two minds and getting stranded. If he rushes out, he typically sees it through and puts someone under pressure.

I also think someone needs to tell him to just stop trying to be accurate with his kicking. Just hoof the fucking thing in Adebayor's general direction every single time and make sure it goes past the half way line. Every time he tries to dink it out to the wings it seems like we get put in a bad situation, and unless we're playing a team that puts no pressure on us at all our current fit defenders shouldn't be intricately playing out from the back.

Really not sure what's wrong with him. He's still pulling off top class saves, but he's hesitating when he comes out which is suicidal as a sweeper keeper. When you look at him, he just appears tired - maybe even a tad skinnier than last season. Might be a stress-related illness, hopefully the club is keeping a close eye on him. Quality keeper and leader who is pivotal.

it's a similar effect that you see in fighters..

they get knocked out for the first time. if lucky they won;t have shat or pissed in their pants.. a few more sparring or fights come along and they are very hesitant, coach says don't be scared..

then suddenly it switches and they go gung ho to prove they aren;t scared, and make some stupid mistakes, get tagged.. so for a few more matches or sparring sessions they alternate between hesitating and going mental.. until a balance is reached again.. hopefully..

I think the amount of times he has come charging off of his line and swept up far outways the recent "dip" (if you can call it that ) in form...

recently we have seen Dawson and Chiriches undone with a simple through ball numerious times a game.. only to have Hugo rush out to gather up the ball or make a clearence.

I think Hugo's form conincides with us being poor defensively...

Dont often see too many threads on how amazing Hugo was, and how many times he saved us in a game... only the odd mistake is pointed out
