We had Ryan on trial a couple of seasons ago before he moved to Belgium (I think?). I don't think he impressed Tony Parks enough.

Ye looked forward to getting him as had seen/read good things ultimately it is how he performed in the trial that matters. After hearing about him I watched him at the World Cup and he had a great tournament. Would have been great backup to Lloris

If that is true, and I don't doubt you, we made a massive mistake. He plays like a sweeper.

He recently won best keeper in Belgium.

However, you can never predict how players will develop so no big deal.

Maybe we didn't turn him down, he may have turned us down to get 1st team football somewhere else.

Possibly but when he trialled I'm sure Hugo was at the club so I would assume he would have known he would not go straight into first team. Additionally this would have been an opportunity to play for a PL team and be second to one of the top 5 keepers in the world and the French captain. I thought it would have been a great experience for him and would be shocked if he had turned it down.

I would recruit Sainsbury before either Ryan or Luongo at the moment. He is a very classy defender in the Richard Gough, Alan Hanson mold of footballer. In the Asia Cup he was Australias most effective passer in a side loaded with defensive midfielders....could quite see him fitting in alongside Vert

Windy on Twitter just tweeted Luongo saying we can buy him back for what we sold him for. Perhaps we'll bring him back in the summer and either keep him or sell him on?

We're odds on to do that then, we'll turn a massive profit the following window. I'd bring him back and give him a pre season with the first team, if it's line ball loan him to a lower premiership team or promotion chasing championship team. He's got the quality for this level, it's just a matter of if we prefer him in the squad or the cash more.

If that's true I feel slightly sorry for Swindon, its nice to see lower league clubs make a tidy sum on players.

asked about mason, bentaleb and kane.

"I am happy for those lads, we missed out a bit because the manager at the time, Andre Villas-Boas, thought he could buy better players instead.

"But it shows that they had quality there all along and the development path at Spurs was good enough for the Premier League."

Daniel, is that you?
In all seriousness, I doubt we will go for him and that he'd be willing to come back here, so i hope we have a decent sell on clause. The money from the sale would hopefully be invested straight back into our academy, Luongo will get his new challenge and Swindon will have done some very good business. Everybody's happy!

So we did learn something from the partnership with Real Madrid after all. ;)

Sparked my interested to go have a good nose at swindons squad.

Fuck me they use the loan system well!

Couple of Southampton centre backs on loan there, wonder if they'll come through to southamptons first team given their good youth set up?

I don't feel sorry for them, the only reason they got him for so cheap was because of that clause. It was really just a way for us to get around the loan limits as there were so many Spurs players there already. If he had been sold on the open market he would have brought a lot more and probably gone to a better club.

Lovely video and happy to see him doing so well. he used to dominate u21 games. Would have him back for 400k easily. Think he'd cope in the PL would do as good as Paulinho and Vapour. Cheap still knows what we're about. Presses, can pass, tackles and has decent feet. Think he had the potential to he one of the best ever Aussie players and def be happy with that in our ranks.

AVB didn't buy Rose or Townsend and picked Townsend over our record signing.
