Yet no Sissoko and No Winks and Bergwijn is starting which suggests Jose is going to use the flanks as attack.

i don’t see this as a back 5, i see this as a back 3, first half vs fulham we looked good with aurier and reg bombing forward, hopefully jose is trying to take advantage of this with the back 3 meaning they’ll have to track back less. Also fantastic to see bergwijn back in the team

If (big if) it's a setup that mimics Rose and Walker as wing-backs ala 2016/17 then it isn't a defensive setup at all.

The constantly changing central midfield is a sign of how the squad was neglected for that period where we didn't sign anyone. Options are good but no one knows what our best midfield is, and not in a City "so many great options" way.

That's not a defensive lineup.

He's probably gone with Rodon to combat their threat from set pieces but by allowing Aurier and Reggy to bomb on we've got enough to width to hurt them, whilst this also allows Ndombele to sit a bit deeper next to Hojbjerg which should help our issues in possession.

Dele out is obviously an issue but apart from that it's a good team.

Back 3/5 doesn't mean it's defensive squad(it won't be as Aurier and Reguilon will attack a lot). And all Lucas, Lamela, Bale, Vinicius are ahead Dele in the picking order, and looks like we aren't even using a 10 which is the only position he could play
