Wonder if the loan move of Skipp to Norwich is an attempt to grease the wheels for a Aarons purchase (or another Norwich target perhaps). Either way, glad to see that Skippy will be getting minutes in the Championship.

Not necessarily, there were other offers but Skipp chose them, but it won't hurt.

With Norwich going down and the fact we blatantly need a RB I would have thought that we would have heard a lot more regarding a young, English right back that will surely be looking to get back out of the championship.

I feel like we need a RB even if Aurier stays so I’m surprised how quiet this one seems to be
Going off of everything we've heard with Aurier I think the Milan negotiations are the first domino to fall. Remember how our transfers have gone this window, with most of them being identified early. it's clear we want Aarons, it's also clear that Norwich are not going to be bullied to sell for cheap (evidenced by them standing strong on the Lewis to Liverpool deal) and probably still have a high asking price.

I think he's still gettable, but it really depends on whether Aurier stays or goes and Milan gives us 18-20m or so. The fact that Aarons is English and so young means the fee is going to be extremely tough to negotiate. I bet it's still 'ongoing' but until Aurier moves this will stay quiet.

Realistically, Aurier and Aarons are probably worth a similar amount. Aurier has the European experience and pedigree, whereas Aarons is younger and homegrown. Personally see us taking £14-18m or so and handing it straight to Norwich for Aarons (maybe with some additional fees based on performance or a small sell on %) along with Skipp going there on loan. I'd be happy with that.

People still banging this drum? He's pretty much the antithesis of a Jose Fullback.

If this happens, I'd be very, VERY shocked!

All the journos close to the club and all the ITK indicate that Aarons is high in our list.

Three reasons
We need a RB
We are limited to only a number of non HG players.
We don't have 30m to spend on this position.

The club will be pushing this one for the aforementioned reasons, Jose will understand that we need to balance the squad with HG players and there's also not many solutions around elsewhere.

For example, he wants another CB. Yet there's not many attainable or decent options - unless we spend a lot.

Cantwell and Brooks seem to be the only CM/AM options and Jose may feel if hes allowed to bring in a better non HG CM/AM then compromising with Aarons is worth it.

It's funny seeing those go on about his defensive positioning when he is still very young and that comes with game time and experience.

All the journos and ITK also said jose sees his height as a problem

There’s not really any reason based on Levy’s history to think Mourinho has veto power over signings, especially considering how long the club has been scouting Aarons.

Especially if we are intent on getting two RBs in, I could see a one for Jose, one for Levy compromise.

I've seen the phrase 'he's 5ft 6 max' so often I thought it was his nickname

Don’t think he’s Jose’s first choice at all but I can see us bringing him in if the rumours of Aurier out and 2 RBs in become true.

Most likely I see Aarons being the backup and getting more cups action and someone like Celik being the more go-to starter.

It won't happen. We'll buy elsewhere for RB

What is a typical Jose full back?
People seem to not really understand that Jose tends to care about mentality rather than the actual size or play style of a player.

If they just took the time to look through the teams and players he tended to start in his previous jobs they'd see this.

But they don't. So we just see this common theme where they think Jose only wants big, dumb, defensive lumps.

Actually ITK update 2 from Herc, specifically said that Jose wasn't sold on Aaron's mainly due to height.

I don't doubt Herc's knowledge on the subject but I believe it's probably a bit reductive to think his reservations would be height and height alone when he (Jose) has a history of playing similar sized players in similar positions and having great success with them.
