Don’t think he’s Jose’s first choice at all but I can see us bringing him in if the rumours of Aurier out and 2 RBs in become true.

Most likely I see Aarons being the backup and getting more cups action and someone like Celik being the more go-to starter.
This would be ideal.

Zanetti (more of a DM at the time but still a defensive player), Cole, Maxwell, Marcelo, Coentrao, etc.

Even someone like Wayne Bridge who played about as much as I expect Aarons will for two of Joses title winning sides.

He sold Maxwell after one season ... Zanetti is zanetti ... Coentrao is 5f11inch though ... Cole and Marcelo actually short while cole is actually very good defender as well

Maxwell won a league title with them which is something I would take here in a heartbeat.

Sounds more like you're just making excuses when proved wrong.

I said Jose plays short players. You said who. I showed it and that's pretty much end of.

Not only that but I don't think the likes of Azpi and Valencia are that tall either...

Jose played maxwell in left midfield role in a lot of time that year and chivu was their main left back ..also he was mostly injured in that title winning season ...the likes azpi/valencia/coentrao are physically more imposing compared to aarons ... Also all those players bar marcelo are mostly defensive minded fullback compared to aarons

So what you're saying is that their height wasn't the most important factor? Like Jose cares about the mentality more?

Amazing. Because that's literally exactly what I said in the first place FFS.

People seem to not really understand that Jose tends to care about mentality rather than the actual size or play style of a player.

If they just took the time to look through the teams and players he tended to start in his previous jobs they'd see this.

But they don't. So we just see this common theme where they think Jose only wants big, dumb, defensive lumps.

Not at all! There is definitely a type of athlete that Jose likes at fullback. Defensively sound, tall (ish), quick etc.

Usually quite a strong, athletic player. Better defensively than offensively. Examples include Cole, Ivanovic, Ferreira, Zanetti, Valente, Bridge etc. Aaron's doesn't fit this kind of profile.

Neither does the modern day full back. These days the best clubs rely on their full backs to provide width, crosses and to play with attacking intent. As long as you have decent centre backs and a hardworking central midfield then the full backs don’t have to worry about their defensive frailties as much they would have 5 to 10 years ago.

Height was one of the factors ... Normally long, physically imposing players Jose likes as his fullbacks ... The likes of Maxwell, Marcelo(Whose main attribute is attack) were already at their clubs before the arrival of Jose ... That leaves out Ashley Cole whom Jose actually bought and he was defense first fullback rather than offense despite his size ... Aarons is attack minded full back

I'm curious of where this obsession over his height comes from? I was just looking over Transfermarket's top 10 most valuable RB in Europe.
Alexander-Arnold, Wan-Bissaka, Pavard (tallest at 73"), Semedo, Carvajal (shortest at 68"), Walker, Roberto, Cancelo, Pereora, and Bell-end. The average height of those 10 players is 70.5"
Max Aarons is listed as 70"
Am I missing something?
