It's also why Depay isn't going to cost 40m+. He's only 20, plays at a position of need, scored 12 goals and provided 8 assists in the Eredivisie and he's now showing what he can do on the biggest stage in world football. I can't fathom how anyone wouldn't find him to be an exciting player that we could really use.
And his first name is Memphis... it's a win win really.

I think he'll be off to United when van Gaal has got rid of a few of their average wingers.

I agree, I do think this will be the final outcome. Wouldn't be surprised to see them offload Nani and Young this summer.

I first found out about depay when he was 17 ( playing fifa ) been keeping a eye on him in real life ever since wishing one day we might get linked... And now we have, really hope we can get him as there aren't many players with his qualities...
Strength.... Very quick... Makes Clever runs... And starting to find the net more and more I just love players who run at people like bale sterling and so on and he's just like this.

Doubt he's gona go sit on the bench at united if he does leave psv so hopefully we can offer him 1st team football

I'm not so sure, if LVG was such a big fan, surely he would have started him over Lens. I think the links between Man Utd and Depay is just lazy journalism like the links to Blind. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if they started Mata on the left, to play Rooney behind RVP. In fact, if you look at the playes who can play LW (Mata, Januzaj, Welbeck), I would say they are more likely to go for RW (I don't even think they will do that).

Haha if you go back through this thread my friend, you'll see that I could not agree more with you on the bolded. I polluted this poor thread with my confusion as to why they were interested considering the outright quality of options they had capable of playing LW, even if they preferred playing centrally. I think you're spot on, and I still find it confusing why they're being linked with LW's and not RW's.

And maybe you're right, maybe it is just lazy journalism. But as of now they've already been linked rather strongly with two left wingers, Depay and Konoplyanka, the second of which was confirmed by the player's agent. So I have to admit, I'm inclined to believe they are indeed looking for a quality left wide forward/winger in addition to the attacking mids they have, however strange it may seem considering the quality options they already have to try to fit in to their attack, and the reduced number of games they now have to do so.

The agent quotes came across as the agent trying to drum up interest from the EPL to me. He also only said they had watched a couple of games.

Yeah I think that may be, and if true may even be as little as Man U called him once to check on availability and price. However, I do think they're looking. Unless van Gaal changes things up considerably, he does like his wide forwards as opposed to wide attacking mids, especially since he advocates counterattacking football so much.

He's talented but I don't think he has what it takes to become a stellar player for a team like Spurs or other teams above us. The more I've seen of him the more I'm convinced. I'm way more interested in Zakaria Bakkali.

Interesting. You think Bakkali has the physical dynamics to succeed in our league over Depay? Bakkali may be quite solidly built, but players like Lennon have the pace to compensate while I just don't know enough about Bakkali to know if he does. I must say though, biologically speaking, players with that disproportionally thick of thighs due tend to not be the speedsters due to friction.

Roberto Carlos was fast and he has the thickest thighs I have seen (in a totally not gay way).

Haha well-placed no homo grenade.

Yeah there are plenty of exceptions (once played with a Korean guy whose thighs were thicker than my torso, but my torso bigger than his own, and he was just stupid fast), but it does tend to be a trend nonetheless. I just don't know, I've honestly never seen this guy play but I have noted several folks rating him on here (@Snarfalicious has been singing this guy's name for awhile now in discussion of Dutch/Belgian league wingers). So if he's quick, or someone can give a better scouting report, I'd be delighted to hear it (and especially if we have any interest).

I think he is certainly quick enough.

Got to agree, he does seem to have the speed. He also has a great touch, and wonderfully quick feet. Only issue I see from that vid though is decision-making in the box. Of course, it's an extremely small cross section of evidence and a much more difficult asset to judge than speed in such a short period of time, so I could be entirely wrong.
