I haven't posted for ages, the general mood has been awful for a few months and the discussions haven't given me any reason to get involved.
Sick and tired of having my mood dictated by football and reading most of the posts nowadays just makes my mood worse.
Thank god for chat, always makes me smile a few times a day.

My thoughts exactly. It's been a long time since I've engaged in a discussion with someone on here regarding Spurs - there just seem to be too many posters who on an emotional whim, decide to spout aggressive or nonsensical rubbish regarding our current team, manager(s), chairman, other clubs etc. etc. It's like Ole Gibbsy worked out how to clone himself.

So much of the genuine objective debate is lost amongst all this. I like the witty one liners and banter that you see on occasion, it lightens the debates but as many have said this often descends into insults or into fruitless arguing - 'He's shit', 'No he's not, you're shit', 'No your mum's a shit', 'My dad could have your shit dad' and so on and so on, till the end of time.

Perhaps a bit like the 1882 Movement, we need to get back involved with Spurs Chat and get some spirit and sensible discussion back into the place?

There simply is no discussion, it seems people want instance success - even more ironic when we haven't actually had success for so bloody long now (in my life time a couple of trophies)....

I sat give Sherwood a go, no discussion, just shouted down.

Last nights match thread was really bad too - I keep harping on about it, but I've never seen it that bad.

Sherwood made changes that people have been banging on about doing for months, then when it happens, they moan that it shouldn't have happened.

You really couldn't make it up!

The problem i see is that some posters are already actively trying to promote actual interesting discussion instead of slamming everyone and his dog, and those good posts are just getting lost within all the verbal diarrhoea.
There are 5 topics about the same general thing, the first page looks like we've been relegated and we are falling into the depths of Mt Doom, and when there is a positive thread you get the whiners taking pot shots at those who are generally trying to keep the place readable.
Right now i'm skimming most of the stuff in there, if page one has some good discussion i read on until it falls the same way as the other threads and I go back to actually do some work, laugh at some funny pics or find Bomber's Deaf Girl story for a giggle.

Dude, it's me - i didn't pay attention when i posted it, i just saw the word "chat" and "Spurs" and figured they probably just wandered away from each other for a bit and would be back once they'd sorted themselves out. Feel free - move it, fold it into a tiny square, nail it to a Frisbee and throw it over a mountain if you like.

I rarely bother with Spurs Chat these days, there are too many mentalists complaining we are not 10 points clear at the top.

All I think we need to do is remind people of how poor we were back in the 80s and 90s. If you lived through it, you know, like I know, that we should appreciate the quality of squad/team we have now. Yes, things are working great at the moment, but its still better than a midfield of Samways and Howells and a backfour with Nethercott, Austin and Edinburgh playing in it!!

I think we are suffering with some Johny Come Lately's who believe that because we spent like City this summer, we should be performing like them too.

For the last few weeks this forum has become more and more aggressive and i'm seeing way too many arguments where reasoned debate could be had - sure, we're upset, i get that. Results aren't going our way, the clubs in disarray, but to start turning on each other is, frankly, shite.

Its been like this for a while, and people who are just being abusive have been getting bans.
Some of the abuse thrown at the players has been shocking as well.

The match thread is always what it is, since I have been posting on here. It seems like it is contractually obliged to go into meltdown. We could be winning 4-0, concede in the 89th minute and there would be countless Armageddon posts that we were about to lose 4-5, sack the manager, players, board etc.

Ignoring that, and getting past the one sentence, knee jerk sort of posts, I think we get quite a lot of good discussion and debate in most threads. Some of it goes round in circles, but people do take the time to explain their position and give reason to their thoughts.
