every time you think of coming in here for a whinge pinch one off the wrist instead.
you'll be wankrupt but content.

i applied this ideal to myself and at the moment its completely flaccid.....like trying to thread a wet noodle into a chubb lock.

This might actually sound a little radical, and I know it's never going to be changed, but...I think that the rating system doesn't work as well as the old rep system, I even feel that it doesn't help things either.

Bear with me, but when it was the old rep system, you used to have to post something very very good or very constructive, or not so if it was neg rep, to gain rep points. But since it has changed, especially more so lately, Anyone can get a like or an agree and I think it makes it easier to be a lazy poster, you know, by saying something or someone is shite, someone or a few agree with it, it then fuels that poster to make more posts like that, then it spirals out of control.

Does that make sense? Probably not.

Not to mention you and I were both in the top 20 - 25 on the members list when sorted by Rep received ;), very much front pagers!

Jokes aside, I completely agree, the old rating system was much better and encouraged people to post with a degree of erudition and logic, this has turned SC into a social networking site for rage babies.

Close, but he/she's actually called Emily
Is all this for real? Does this mean someone is SCraping his account or has he had a sex change??

*See this Lanh subject has quickly taken our minds off Spurs.

Everyone spoke of patience over the summer and how much we'd need to give AVB and the new players, but this is the reality of how patient most people really are these days. There are reasons for it such as increased media hype and the fact that in these modern times, we can come here and talk Spurs all day and night if we want. Perhaps we lose patience quicker because being a football fan is now a 24/7 thing where as before the internet, most of our footy talk was done on weekends or at pubs/work for a shorter ammount of time? Just a theory.

This does not surprise me in the slightest.

I'm not sure why you posted this in Chat though RSS, I would have thought by posting it in Spurs Chat you would have hit a lot more of your target audience. If you want us to move it, just say.

And SK.......The mods never think. It's all off the cuff :D
Dude, it's me - i didn't pay attention when i posted it, i just saw the word "chat" and "Spurs" and figured they probably just wandered away from each other for a bit and would be back once they'd sorted themselves out. Feel free - move it, fold it into a tiny square, nail it to a Frisbee and throw it over a mountain if you like.

Bet you can't throw a kettle over a pub (y)

I had to delete my post now (relating to Chat). Thought i was going mental when I saw this in Spurs Chat. lol

I tend to think that ages come into it, the over 35's can have reasoned sound debates/conversations about the why and wherefores because we were brought up on a diet of dross mid table football, what would the young'uns these days say about the likes Vinny Samways, Paul Walsh and David Howells turning out every week. Games were played on a saturday at 3pm, we didn't know the score unless you tapped in 302 on ceefax or waited for the vidiprinter to kick in at 4.40.

Nowadays, because of the amount of footy on TV we are constantly bombarded with the success of teams from all around the world, and we as supporters demand the same, we all know how bored we are when England play as there is no PL or CL footie for a fortnight, the radio ends up talking about banal subjects as there simply is nothing to talk about.

We know deep down that we're never going to win the title or the Champions League, everything going on at Spurs is out of our control and it's naive to think any different. It's the Spurs way, those old enough to remember will know this.

I'm pleased to hear that about Lanh, I always liked his posts even when I didn't agree with them but I always felt he took the cares of the world on his shoulders so if he's happier now then he deserves it.
Thanks for the thread RSS :- Merry Christmas everyone!(y):)

But the current moaners saying it's all over are the pro AVB supporters who were ticking off people for slagging AVB before he was sacked.

I agree. You get points for posting anything these days.
To be honest as a 9 year vet of sc I much preferred it when there were fewer members who knew each other better. The discussions were more interesting and people felt more welcome to say something.

Another point is that the mods were less intrusive than they are now. Not in a big brother sense because they do a great job of keeping people in line but in the sense of their expressing their opinions. Much of this pro and anti levy stuff has been in part driven by certain mods.

They do a great job on the whole and I am grateful for it because sc is a great forum but perhaps they should remain more impartial? They certainly shouldn't make the site more divided on certain issues.

Not that I knew what Carl looked like before the change, but I'm intrigued to see how he/she looks now... still naked cycling?

Bet as a girl, he doesn't get half as much shit cycling naked in the middle of the night!
