Don’t understand this talk of trading Ndombele for Skriniar.

Ndombele was purchased to control the centre of midfield. That gap is even more glaring if Ndombele leaves and there is no replacement.

How do you work that out? He cant even get in the side?

How do you know that? Because seems like our fanbase finds somehow leadership and winning mentality in our every target
Yeah, our fanbase really had to stretch to find the leadership qualities in Hojbjerg, who became captain of So'ton at 23, speaks like a seasoned manager, and is clearly extremely vocal on the pitch. Oh and shy, retiring Joe Hart who certainly isn't known for being a loud, positive character.

No-one on here ever said Ndombele or Lo Celso had leadership qualities when we signed them. Why? Because they don't have them.

Sometimes people on here are actually just using common sense and stating the obvious, as crazy as that might seem.

Your team looks decent - except (as much as I like him) I don’t see Lo Celso playing to his strengths in deep middle. I really see him and Alli competing for that spot behind Kane. Brozovic on the other hand provides power, leadership and passing ability.
If the itk about Ndombele is true then a swap for Skriniar would be ideal. I'd hope that we'd get some cash in the deal, or we pony up some cash and get Brozovic as well
According to several Inter fans websites (similar to SC), Brozovic seems to be slightly out of favour with Conte. And the big talking point is the signing of Sandro Tonali for the same, deep lying playmaker and ball distributor role.. Tonali is according to Italian rumours being bought for a fee around €35M (approx £31-32M). What we should do, is to get enough money for TN from INter and buy Tonali - which has an immensly higher ceiling than Brozovic. In Italy he´s talked about as the "new Pirlo", while he´s reported to see himself more like a Gattuso. A combination of those two, Gattuso & Prilo, sounds just insane in one player...! (dribble-dribble)

The same sites, interestingly, all quote Chelsea´s Kante as Conte´s numer one target, while TN is a Plan B. And don´t ask me: I don´t see how those two can be numer 1 and 2 on the same list of targets...

We need genuine quality in our squad players that make things happen create and win games. Selling Ndombele or exchanging him for this type of defender (he is no Ledley King or Van Dijk) doesn't sit well with me. I standby what's been said imo Ndombele is still young and let's be honest what a torrid first season all considered- change of manager injuries unrest ie players wanting out, Amazon filming poor team form, changing of country, staying with Sissoko, learning the language I bet the majority of us fans can't speak French, covid-19 . He needs a bit more time
Give up the ghost. He doesn’t want to fight for his place.

You’re that guy that’s had their misses cheat, but makes excuses for her because according to her you don’t “appreciate her enough”.

Sometimes you gotta know when enough is enough. You’re worth more then that...
I guess you're that guy who borrows fags off your mum promises to pay her back and never does, use your dad's car and don't replace the fuel.
You’re adopted - your parents don’t even love you.

Conte would keep Brozovic no question. Brozovic is leaving the club because of off field behaviour issues.

Also Pirlo comparison is lazy for Tonali, it's just because he's from Brescia. I'm not sure he is that much like gattuso either. He is a good passer, but I mean he is a lot more mobile and dynamic. He can play further forward as well. Like even a number 8 if needed. He is very young though, will take time.

Your mum and dad adopted me, they've given me all the love in the world, I can't ask for more.
As for the fags you took from mum i've bought her some nicotine patches and dad a new electric car.
Mum said she’d prefer the gum over the patches.

Dad won’t appreciate the car. I can hear him now...”cheap foreign muck”. He’d rather stick with his mk1 escort.

Ndombele leaving is going to bring the family closer together. I can see it now. We can finally put our differences to one side.

Centre back is the deepest position in the squad. We really don't need him this summer.
It may be the only way we can offload Ndombele though. We could potentially move on a centre back or two if we made this swap. CCV, Foyth, maybe even Sanchez.

Imagine if the player swap suggested with Ajax was for Davinson? Long shot but would you do it?

Ndombele for Skriniar
Sanchez for Van de Beek

I’m not sure that I would sell Sanchez. He’s the only pacey CB in the squad, and if we’re going to adopt a high press (as we have done in preseason) then that will leave us susceptible to runners in behind. We’ll need someone with recovery pace if that is our tactic against teams parking the bus.

If Van de Beek is truly only priced in the ~£35m range, as has been mooted by ITK and the press, then we’d be better off trying to raise the funds by selling some combination of squad players such as Foyth, Sissoko, Lamela, Rose etc. IMO.

I put in the VDB thread that maybe (?) Toby might be ready to go back to Ajax (on subsidised wages) in the same deal you quoted minus Sanchez. Herc said it would have to be creative and involve player exchanges I think.

But would Jose be open to selling Toby.
Only if Skriniar joins could I see it and that has a big 'if' hanging over it.

Doubt Jose would be happy going into the season with Dier, Sanchez, Foyth and Tanganga.

I did say in the VDB thread (I think) that VDB and Skriniar for Toby and Ndombele (with whatever cash adjustments) would be decent business for us.

Toby has only just signed a new contract.
Foyth and CCV are the CBS that are surplus to requirements.
I think Toby to Ajax is a deal that happens in a couple of years time (probably when they sell foyth to Juventus or Madrid lol)

Word!

I would also say that Højbjerg has since been signed to control the centre of midfield (the difference he made when he came on and Sissoko went off yesterday was incredible).

I am pretty convinced Jose's first choice team will be something like this:

Lloris
Doherty Toby* Dier Davies
Højbjerg LoCelso
Moura**----Dele-----Son
Kane
*Sanchez may play when up against a fast attack.
** Bergwijn is staking a claim but Moura's work rate and turnovers probably make him favourite. Overall I expect high-levels of rotation between Bergwijn, Moura and Son in the Wide Forward roles due to the work rate required.

I think you're spot on. That side is pretty good.

Who was the last central defender to come to the PL from Italy and be top level?

Anyone in the league at present?

None I can think of, but the top Italian defenders have always played in Italy or Spain. Equally, we've never had a top Italian defender come here and flop either.

Edit - Obviously you are talking about any player from the Italian league though, and I still cannot think of one.
