If highly technical players is what you want...

Gil Kane Kulusevski
Bentancur Bissouma Lo Celso
Udogie Lenglet Romero Porro
Lloris replacement

...then we have accumulated enough of them for any tiki-taka (adjacent) manager to get started with
I also think Enrique would absolutely love Sarr and Devine. One of the biggest pluses for him as a manager is how well he works with and develops youth and how unafraid he is to play them.

Is Enrique a perfect fit? No. But does he tick quite a few boxes? Yep. We can't seriously be considering Ange over him if he's willing to come here.

Potter rocked up at Chelsea with a new image, messy hair, dapper clothing and beard.

His next stage of evolution to shake off his 'too nice' approach is a Mohican and a nose piercing.
I ask from a place of genuine curiosity rather than challenge, but what makes you think he is too nice?

I think I have seen this sentiment echoed elsewhere. I am always fascinated how people get these labels attached to them.

That’s assuming Ange is our top choice at the moment. Nobody has actually clarified that he is, just that he is one of the favourites.

One has to remember that as it stands we are down to our 3rd choice. Everyone knows that including our prospective targets. That certainly doesn’t make us an appealing prospect especially if they are employed by a club that does believe in them.

I mean we couldn’t convince Slot, our supposed top choice, that we really really wanted him. How are we going to convince our 3rd choice.

Furthermore I’d reckon there’s probably quite a bit of indecision and panic amongst the board that is probably causing them to second-guess themselves quite a bit. They probably like Ange but is he really better then Enrique, is Enrique really better the Potter, is Potter really better then Rodgers, is Rodgers really better then Ange and so on. They are probably just going round and round whilst also throwing new names into mix.

I really feel in a few weeks time we will end up going for whoever is left. *Expect for Nagelsmann, if he hasn’t gone to Madrid we still won’t go for him.

Wasn't it the case that Slot would have come but Levy wouldn't pay the compensation?

From what I understood from ITK's was us not wanting the pay the compensation made Slot have second thoughts about how much we really wanted him so decided it was best for him to stay. I mean Slot didn't have to sign a new contract, he could have said no he wants to leave and hoped Feyenoord would have eventually come down in their demands. Too many red flags I think.

I will never not be amazed at how poor DL is at hiring considering his success as a businessman.
The way this is playing out I’m not so sure he’s as successful as his reputation suggests. 4/5 years we’ve drifted. What successful business owner allows that to happen. It’s a bit like his rep for a last minute transfer deal, off the back of VDV. He lives off this reputation but if you were to really scrutinise it all there are lots of flaws throughout.

You don't become a multi millionaire/billionaire (?) If you are bad at business. He's made some shit football decisions but he's obviously a good business (money making) man

Sorry but can I just ask why so many in here are so vehemently No to Luis Enrique (yet can be so excited about Ange)?

trying to understand

I, personally, have reservations about his style of play, and how long it would take to pull off at Spurs, coupled with the fact he's not spent longer than a year at any club outside of Barcelona (and we're missing a Neymar, Suarez, Messi, Iniesta etc).

Personally, I feel there's a brand of football that is currently on show more and more by the most competitive teams in the EPL, and it's the style of football Ange Postecoglou tends to prefer his teams to play. Obviously, there's a step up in competition, but momentum is on his side, while Enrique hasn't managed a club side since he left Barcelona in 2017.

If we're so quick to dismiss the level of competition that Ange has been involved in up to this point, then I feel it's equally right we comment on the level of ability Enrique had at Barcelona when he was at his very best.

Just not convinced he's the right fit for Spurs, but I agree he's a vastly different proposition than either Conte/Mourinho.

There are major problems with Enrique:

- Hasn’t worked as a club manager for 7 years, since 2017! That’s a very long time to be out of club management while the club game evolves.

- Failed the only time he ever left Spain when he went to Roma (and was only there 1 season).

- Another big name, glamour appointment used to unlimited resources at his last club job. Will see us as a step down and would be very demanding beyond reason.

- His possession style seems to become slow and predictable.

I think he would be a huge gamble and I don’t think he’s the right person to unite the club behind the scenes in the way Poch did. He isn’t a project manager.

You and others keep saying this but I’d like to see some actual evidence of it.

Was he demanding at Celta and Roma, for example?

How does anyone know he’d view us as a step down. That seems a pretty big assumption. From all I can tell, he wants his next job to be in the PL and we are the biggest job he’s probably going to get. I suspect he’d be more than happy to work for us.

Just got the call from DL, and I'm very excited by the 'project'. I told him that I thought he'd made all the right decisions and had been badly let down by everyone, had been extremely unlucky and was being under appreciated. I also told him that I was totally behind his running of the football side of the business, and that he was a footballing genius that should have more control not less. I think he's about to appoint me as manager, and I'd like to assure the fans that we will be playing the type of football that ensures me my huge redundancy fee in only 6 months time.
