I think my original post was badly worded he seems to be good at motivating but do we have any information on him and his coaching ability is there evidence where he’s changed a game or seen something isn’t working and fixed it.

With all due respect to burnley they were good enough to come back up anyways although kompany has added a few interesting players

Agreed. If we come to the conclusion that Kompany is the right person because we've actually done some fucking due diligence and benchmarked him against other candidates then fine. But we all know that it wont be like that.....

Just to give an extreme example. The Copa Libertadores has games in high altitude (Bolivia, Ecuador & Colombia), where players run out of oxygen if they are not used to place. For those games managers have to completely change their tactics. And managers really test themselves under these situations

Exactly, anyone who has been to La Paz and Quito in particular know how tough it is just to acclimatise, let alone play professional football.

Was there not ITK that Levy has spoken to Gallardo on more than one occasion?

It may not be as deep as we don't want him for whatever reason. Maybe he just isn't interested.

I'm all in on Kompany.

This guy is seriously impressive, dont think I've seen a Manager talk with such intelligence before.

He'll also have the instant respect of the likes of Kane (if hes still here). Which for a Manager on the rise is such an added bonus.

Style of football ticks the box and what you here about him improving players, lifting confidence is going to be key.

One worry about Kompany is that Burnley do allow a lot of shots at goals from teams. Something to bear in mind.

Thing is, we had ITK saying we had two top targets Slot and Postecoglou amongst 7, now Kompany is seemingly high on the list so it seems this whole situation is in a contestant state of flux and probably will be until the summer. My hope is that we will come back to Gallardo because he really seems like a stand out option.

I more meant maybe he just isn't interested as it does seem to be going around and around a bit with people justifying why he has the experience and should be a top option, that the club is dense if they can't see that...but maybe he's just already blown us out given that we've apparently spoken to the bloke yet he's not on the target list anymore.

It wasn't done on training pitch though, it was done by transfers. Only 8 players in the whole squad remained from the last season, over 60% minutes in league was played by new players, from the 10th most used players 7 were new signings. And I guess someone like Connor Roberts after playing at Swansea under Potter and Cooper were already able to play more attacking, ball-dominant football before Kompany came.

makes what he’s achieved even more impressive.

The clue I’m assuming though lies in the fact that he left the ‘b’ and ‘c’ out of the word back.
Yes, but I suspect the absence of the two letters is more likely down to typing it on his phone than anything else.
It would be an odd delivery of a cryptic clue, especially in the context that we are down to a choice between three widely known candidates.

Oh, well I guess we never know but the last ITK said Levy talked to him a number of times but thought he needed to manage somewhere in Europe first. Which I’d maybe understand if managers like Postecoglou, Slot and Kompany weren’t at the very top of our list which they supposedly are.

Fair play, I may have forgotten or missed the bit about thinking he needed to manage elsewhere first.

Very possible, but the fact he left a space where the ‘c’ should be suggests to me otherwise🤷‍♂️
If I’m wrong then apologies✌🏻😂

Burnley now play like City which is no easy feat transforming a team from a long ball rigid 4-4-2 to a dynamic high pressing high possession creative attacking 4-3-3.

They are not just winning but absolutely romping the championship with a fairly average squad.

Watch on YouTube his team talks etc especially his pre season first squad address, it’s just so impressive, modern players will run through walls for this guy and he will only get better tactically over time.

The guy is a born winner and natural leader but he’s also a very positive uplifting personality which is exactly what we need at Spurs.

Have said from the start he’d be in my top3 ideal candidates. I get that some think his lack of experience is a risk but I don’t think it is particularly a risk, the risk is more than he comes to us does well and then jumps ship to take over from pep at city.

Let’s see if the rumours are true but if so well done to the club for making a move in the right direction for the first time in 3 years, regardless of if it works out or not.
Interesting and I know it would never happen but I wonder how well Pep Guardiola would have done with Burnley this season....Would he have got them playing like Man City and would he have won that league comfortably?

He's never truly been tested with trying to manage a less glamorous club without big budgets ?

Both ‘b’ and ‘c’ are at the bottom of the keyboard, just above the space bar… but enough from me on this.
I hope you’re right and Ange Kostepoglou is set to be announced shortly as our new manager. (y)

I think this is just an example of how you can never please all the people all the time.

If we are too defensive, we are not attacking enough.

If we are too attacking, we are not defensive enough.

If we press high, we let in balls over the top.

If we sit back, we concede too much possession.

Small sample size - but the biggest complaint I read on SC: "We need to play more on the front foot!" If we hire a manager to address those concerns - it probably leaves us more open in the back.

(I think some people want to play more like Brighton/Brentford/Leeds - but only until they realize that those teams are mid-table for a reason...at which point the complaints will be different)
