It doesn’t matter who the manager is. We’ve tried everything, and nothing’s worked, and nothing’s going to. The entire ownership and structure of the club would have to change for us to win anything.

All Poch returning would do is ruin his legacy.

Let's appoint Justin Bieber then...

It's pretty clear that everyone would like new owners/a revamped structure but it still makes a big difference who our coach is. We saw with Poch that even with pitiful investment we could be competitive at the highest level. It was visible with Conte last season how much of an impact better coaching can make. However, it is undeniable that we have been poorly coached this season, whatever you think of the playing squad. The data and the eye test suggests this. We have (contrary to popular narrative) got lots of exciting talent at the club and even if Kane goes in the summer it is reasonable to expect a good coach to demonstrate this and get us playing again. We might not ever win the biggest honours with ENIC but we can still hope/expect to compete as much as possible. What's the point in being a fan otherwise ffs.

That's why Real Madrid suffer domestically. They drop points in tonnes of league games. Barca have been better this season with a high pressing style. Not to mention, City, Arsenal, Liverpool (of late), Bayern etc all press high and these are the best teams in Europe.
These best teams you mentioned had all been beaten by Madrid in recent years apart from arsenal who wasn’t even good enough to have a chance of playing them, especially when both Liverpool and city both got beat last year by a subpar Madrid team. Hard to call them the best and not including Madrid simply because of the different tactics when the current champion of Europe is still Madrid don’t you think.

IMO, there’s more than one way of playing football and There are no such thing as a best tactic, only the right tactics for the right players.

Madrid still average 59.6% possession (2nd behind Barca), so they clearly dominate the ball and play on the front foot for the majority of games.

They won la liga last year by 13 points, and they won the CL, without a high press

Yea definitely, when they are one of the two best teams in the league it’s natural that most teams are going to sit back against them. It’s hard to play on the counter when the oppositions doesn’t really want the ball.

Sorry, but this is nonsensical. We made two finals and were knocked out four times in the semis under Poch. We made a final under Mourinho. To win the league, short of a miracle run, we would undoubtedly need to be taken over by a trillionaire; but we've had plenty of opportunities to win trophies.

Its just lazy to suggest that we keep getting knocked out by dross teams in the FA Cup because of the ownership.

It's not lazy, or nonsensical - it's proven reality.

We sacked a serial winner and our chairman's wet dream the night before our last final. We actively try not to win anything.

The thing about a large sect of the Levy Out brigade, that is those who pin every single ill on ENIC above all else, is that you're so malleable. You're right that Mourinho was Levy's dream appointment for years, which makes his sacking (ill-timed, in my view as well) all the more pertinent when you remember how poor our results were. Mourinho, the serial winner, was sacked because we lost 3-0 to a managerless Dinamo Zagreb in March and remained patchy thereafter.

Do I think Levy should have sacked him right before the final? No. Do I think he did it because he was scared we'd win? No. Do I think Mourinho would have won that final? No. You'd be delusional to think we had much of a chance at all. He took a punt on a new manager bounce in the final against an actual serial winner, Guardiola, and it didn't work. We put up a half decent showing mind you.

We sacked him 6 days before said final because he wanted tk rotate in the league and focus on winning the thing. What does that say to you?

What? We played a full strength team in that final and were never anywhere near winning the league in April. You could maybe argue he was sacked to give us a bounce to try and sneak into the top 4.

Sacking him at that point made zero sense. If you where to sack him to get top 4 it would have been months earlier for a realistic shot. For all the issues with Jose he has great experience of cup finals. Would we have won? probably not considering it’s City but we would have have more chance. It demonstrated that trophies are not the top of ENIC’s agenda, top 4 and saving cash is and that is fine I guess from the boards point of view but many if not most fans would rather trophies.

If you really have to talk about the next manager, this is the thread. Anything else, anything else (and there's been far too much of it) is for other threads. So please stop treating this thread as some sort of spam thread or it'll just be locked. Thanks

So prices wise

Pochettino 11/8, Tuchel 3. Frank 6, Potter 15/2, De Zerbi 9, Kompany 10, Allegri 14, Rodgers 16 seem to be the expected contenders.

Select others Mason 20, Zidane 25, Benitez 25, Simeone 33, Bielsa 33, Carrick 33, Ancelotti 50

cannot see price quoted for Gallardo

Idiotic response - I'm not and have never been one of the "Levy Out Brigade" - in previous years I'd have been widely considered a BSoDL - so the rest of your patronising reply is irrelevant and not worthy of reply.

What a stupid thing to say.

No further response from me as we're already widely off topic.

If bringing Poch back means we start to play some attractive football then let's just get it done asap and I mean now, like before the Milan game. I've never felt so disinterested and distant from the club as I do now. We lose and I feel nothing. It doesn't ruin my weekend anymore. There's just nothing.

Not bothered by who's coming in now. I know it's impossible, but my only hope now is to have the new manager appointed under and by a new owner/management/chairperson. If not, we will just start a new evil and depressing cycle again.

Poch was as useless a coach as Conte is, and has done nothing since he left us to suggest he has improved. I want him nowhere near this club. I still like Potter, but I’m now willing to toss a coin, nothing can be worse than what we’ve got now.
