Big Ange 8/10 would be very exciting but not quite as good as JN or Slot would've been
Amorim meh 6/10 choice could be ok but not that exciting
De Zerbi 9/10 but zero chance he leaves Brighton for us
L.Enrique 6/10 his teams play decentish football but I don't think he'd be a good fit for building a project with us, putting him on par with Amorim due to style of play being slightly better
Enrique has stated that he wants a long-term project

After all the hype in the press the last few days positioning Slot as the next incredible manager it feels like the only positive outcome at this point is somehow resurrecting JN. Which isn’t happening. Since 2019, other than the run in last year, supporting this club has felt like wearing a millstone.

Think Big Ange is now the most realistic option. Much as I would love DeZerbi, if we cannot pry someone from Feyenord then we have little hope from a progressive premiership team. We now have the association of a managerial graveyard, where even serial winners fail, it all looks extremely grim.

Yeah agree that most are laughing at the state of the club mate. But a member called NayimFTHL who I've now just put on the ignore list either disagrees or laughs at each of my posts but that's a them issue.
But you are making it your issue as you are getting offended by it and brining it up! Just ignore and don’t give them the time of days by mentioning it.

Dave Hytner article https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/may/25/tottenham-arne-slot-rules-out-manager-job-feyenoord

“They include Rúben Amorim, whose contract at Sporting has a €15m (£13m) buyout clause this summer; Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou; Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton; and Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona and Spain manager. It is considered unlikely that De Zerbi would leave Brighton for Spurs”
Sounds like we’ve been briefing someone

Tbh if we had ambitious competent owners with the resources we gave etc they’d have planned for Conte’s sacking but even if not then the second Naglesman was open to talks after getting sacked by Bayern they’d have got that sorted and hired Ragnick or one of his reccomended DofF’s to support JN.

Sloy as a fallback option is then a good option.

To now be again 60 days into the ‘search’ with seemingly no further progress apart from about 5-6 names now being crossed off the list is just utter incompetence of the highest highest order AGAIN, but why are we surprised?

Sigh 😔

Levy use go and get Big Ange sorted now and a DofF to support him anyone else from the options mentioned and we will be hiring someone who is a bad fit or not good enough.

'hello, is that Antonio?'

'ciao Slotty, what's up?'

'spurs are trying to hire me, what do you think?'

'listen carefully, go to ground, throw away your phone and snap the SIM card, don't access any social media and lay low. If you must go out, out put a wig on and a fake tashe. It'll blow over soon, good luck my friend... Slotty? Hello? You there? Was that breaking glass?'

'oh my god, levy is at the window, he's getting in!'

'vafaanculo! Quick out the back'

'i can't Antonio, theres a strange woman at the back door, she's grinning, it's terrifying Antonio. Help me!'

'theres only 1 chance, remember Indiana Jones? Close your eyes keep them tight shut. You won't see the contract. Ignore their alluring lies and words. They'll just leave eventually. I'm sorry slotty. dis 'appened to me. Be strong!'

I suppose looking on the positive side Rodgers normally does ok for a couple of years and we normally fire managers after a couple of years so maybe there's some synchronicity there.

Don’t know if it’s because I’ve been excited by 3 managers now ( poch, JN & Slot ) that it’s put me off but I’m not excited or even vaguely intrigued by anyone else linked now.

A certain formation doesn’t have any bearing on how attacking or defensive a manager’s tactics are. This phobia of a wingback system is fucking nonsense. If you have 3 solid CB’s (which we don’t, we have 1) you can play attacking football as Man City have shown. The football was shit and it had gotten toxic so it was time to leave but Conte was left with the vast majority of his back line and goalkeeper being sub standard, how could he have taken the shackles off? We’d have been torn apart every week like we were second half against Brentford. Signing a GK and a couple of CB’s is every bit as important as making the right managerial appointment. There’s not a manager alive that could get a tune out of 80% of our defensive options. We’re absolute fine in midfield and attack if we can keep our players fit but our defence would genuinely get us relegated if we didn’t have other players carrying the team, it is genuinely that bad

Literal addiction to manager chases. You're not getting the same dopamine hit as the first one. It's a downward spiral. Go to the Transfer Rumours forum. Take a different hit. Although that'll grind you down too eventually.

Horrible thing this football club and its rumours.

You're not wrong; though I'm not sure many were that excited by Slot until his background + achievements came more to the fore. It will be the same for the next manager too – remember, we hired Nuno because Paratici convinced Levy he played good football at Valencia (y)

I don't know who said it now but regarding "Amorim's Sporting averaged less possession in the CL' than Marseille etc.

You do realise that in both games against Marseille they went down to 10 and 9 men respectively.

First game the GK Adan was a total disaster. They went 1-up after 1 minute

This is how they started - 7 men in attack.
View attachment 126820

Then Adan had an absolute disaster class.

First he tried a long pass only for it to deflect into goal.
Then he came for a cross and left the goal almost completely open.
Then he came for a ball he had no need to go for and got sent off.

Second game, they were down to 10 after 19 mins.
Then down to 9 after 60.

So yeah..of course they had little possession!!

Why is no-one talking about their smart 2-0 win over us?
Or how they thrashed Frankfurt 3-0 and dominated?
How they thrashed Besiktas twice?
Or how they beat both Dortmund?
Or how they dominated Juventus and were unlucky to lose?

Yeah they get thrashed by City and Ajax, they also get outdone by Porto and Benfica but Amorim has a far inferior squad and has made some of these players look like world beaters...

A lot of players he lost haven't gone onto better things.
Trincão has been a disappointment elsewhere, yet has been very good for Sporting. Same with Porro
Gonçalves, Paulinho, Matheus Nunes, Ugarte etc all came form nowhere and bigger clubs want/wanted them.

Amorim won't demand big money players, he won't cause frictions or attack players. He is a good character.

He fits us in more ways than some can accept.
I love your enthusiasm about Amorim mate and do think he could do well for us but look at a lot of their matches and they often have low possession especially in the CL against better teams (ignore the Marseille game).

They did look half decent against Arsenal to be fair.

My concern is that they look half decent because they have a lot of smaller more technical players who can dribble and pass well, but with the same tactics used for our cloggers it won’t look much different to how it has.

If we got Amorim and also signed Goncalvez and one of Edwards and Trincao then we might look half decent but if not I think it’ll be more of the same and our fans won’t have it.

The football world is a small one. No surprise that managers, agents and players all talk. We are a club in decline and have a board that don't have a fucking clue football wise. Any manager with options won't come to use, we will only attract mid range managers now so look forward to the likes of Rogers and fighting for 6th place at best.

Which is why I'm more concerned about the lack of DoF than a new manager. I'm not that bothered if we're going to appoint Nagelsmann, Slot, Amorim (although if I had to pick one this would be my main choice), Glasner or even Mason as long as we have a recruitment and succession plan.

Any manager worth his salt knows his jobs relies mostly on what kind of players they have at their disposal. And the man (or woman) to deliver those players is a director of football. And if we don't have one, not many top managers would pick us.

We are a big, wealthy club, but we're not a serious club. But that could change. Will it, though?

Has Slot played us? Have the club baulked at Feyenoord's asking price?

Doubt we'll ever know the truth. Both sides will spin their own truths.

One thing we do know is that club leave themselves open to all this conjecture and ridicule by not controlling the narrative and taking an inordinate amount of time to make decisions. They lack decisiveness and a plan.

For a brief moment, it felt like we were about to be back on track. Now we are left wondering where this will end.
I have a feeling our lack of European football next season may have been a deciding factor.Slot probably didn’t like that and decided another year at Feyenoord with CL football wouldn’t do his prospects any harm. That’s down to Levy sacking Conte with us in 4th place with no ready made replacement ready to step in and not ensuring Slot would come with or without European Football.

I've been bubbling all day. What an absolute farce.

The new ground will be a financial game changer they said.

Concerts will be a financial game changer they said.

NFL will be a financial game changer they said.

The amount us absolute mugs spend on a matchday will be a financial game changer they said.

And yet here we are, scrabbling round for a manager with no fucking plan at all.

I'm renewing fuck all and this banter club that we've become is getting no more of my money.
