There are major problems with Enrique:

- Hasn’t worked as a club manager for 7 years, since 2017! That’s a very long time to be out of club management while the club game evolves.

- Failed the only time he ever left Spain when he went to Roma (and was only there 1 season).

- Another big name, glamour appointment used to unlimited resources at his last club job. Will see us as a step down and would be very demanding beyond reason.

- His possession style seems to become slow and predictable.

I think he would be a huge gamble and I don’t think he’s the right person to unite the club behind the scenes in the way Poch did. He isn’t a project manager.

This nonsense again. Conte has really scarred this fan base. How do you know Enrique views us a step down?
Did he say it in a press conference or something?

We can't think every manager that has managed a big club views us as a step down. Enrique, like Nagelsmann spent more time managing smaller clubs than big ones.

Also, it's baffling to me how we want the team to play possession dominant, attacking football but don't want Enrique because he'll require the players to do so? Wouldn't that logic also apply to Ange or any other manager?

Because when coaches get to a certain level they stop trying to improve players, they want to just buy in ready made ones. That’s the worry when guys have been at the likes of Barca.

That sort of thinking is too simple minded.

That may be the case for some coaches, especially those who manage a string of elite clubs over 5-10 years like Conte/Mourinho but to suggest that every manager that gets a big job will stop trying to improve players is wrong imo.

Klopp still tries to improve players. Pep for all the millions he's spent still tries to improve players.

Nagelsmann has managed Bayern for two years after spending 5 years at Hoffenheim/Leipzig, does that mean he'll stop trying to improve players at his next gig?

We should evaluate managers with more nuance.

This is his quote from an article in the Athletic, it sounds alright to me!

“Our idea is never going to change. We will attack, want the ball, play in their half, defend near halfway, press high, take lots of risks. If we have the bravery to stay faithful to that idea, I will consider that we have done our best.”

I had high hopes that Paratici would make DL move away from the football side~ that really went well.
No news being reported WTF?
I'd KK Love it if a DOF or manager was appointed this week
4 years to the day (my birthday) we had CL final~ we need something positive soon as we need the playing staff sorted.
Fe ck this is so low~ the only way is up!

Totally agree but to call him a chancer and say he's effectively a fraud as a businessman is just plain wrong. (Not a levy lover, wish he would fuck off but he's clearly not a shit businessman)

In my opinion a good businessman is someone who is good to do business with. That's what they build their success on, building strong relationships and trust with future partners. Levy has succeeded in bullying those in a weaker position than he is, and he does it relentlessly. Now he is dining at a higher table and finds that his tactics don't wash any more but he still keeps on regardless. Good businessmen adapt, but on the football side of things Levy hasn't done so one jot. Doubtless he has done spectacular things away from football, but he's created a stigma around himself within football and people now keep him at arms length.

As others have said if there's any chance Enrique would prefer to go to the PL over the Italian and French champs we're the only candidate and we'd be lucky to have him. How anyone can seriously say they prefer Ange is beyond me.

Yes yes, he won the treble just because he had MSN you say. Then why haven't PSG won the CL with two thirds of that and Mbappe who's arguably even better than Suarez?

He is well worth the risk, has the wealth of big league, big name experience. Will help keep Kane. Plays positive, attacking football and is extremely tactically flexible. Whereas Ange is someone we have to talk ourselves in to, let's be honest.

And what’s Potter done ?
Fair. But he knows the EPL and has shown an ability to build a side with young and unknown players. Hence I think he’s a better fit than Enrique. I’d prefer JN or Gallardo. But I stick by my view Potter over Enrique. Also because I think there is more chance of Enrique losing his mind with Levy after a few months

Munn, 'data led' strategy, radio silence, Slot - I think all roads lead to Postecoglou.

Given Feyenoord gave Slot a bumper new deal and as already reported, Postecoglou may be getting the same… wonder if he accepts and/or decides Celtic is his level

Ange is a lot older though.

It may be now or never for him. His stock won’t get any higher whilst he’s at Celtic.

In addition to everything @Ghost Hardware said, Enrique would lead a long term project. At least that is what he has said himself. Wouldn’t really say he’s just a glamour high profile option either. He’s one of the lower profile Barca managers. Would be very happy if we hired him. Positive and a character that’s easy to like, promotes youth, attacking football, flexible tactically. Will his football translate to the PL? Well that’s uncertain, but as is the case for nearly all of the candidates.
