Not the guy I wanted and I have concerns....but can we all just stop arguing now and fully get behind the new Manager. It doesnt mean Levy has been let off the hook, it's just that Ange derserves a genuine chance and we could all do with a fresh chapter.

Let's all hope this works out well and pop a few bottles tonight so that we can add the corks to our hats.

Unless things change the manager can’t win, tbh His appointment feels a sma
I’d actually argue that it wouldn’t be luck and that it’s just taken quite a while to evaluate options and make the final appointment, by all accounts Slot was by far the n.o1 choice, we couldn’t get him so have identified Big Ange, L.Enrique and Amorim and are likely to go for Big Ange or L.Enrique, all who play fairly nice attacking football so by all accounts we’ve actually identified a consistent type of Manager so if whoever we land on does well then I wouldn’t in this case say that’s by ‘luck’.

I’ve criticised Levy for years on his handling on the football side and lack of plan but it’s important to be balanced and fair, some Managers he’s hired have been poor and bad choices but some like Redknapp and Poch worked out very well.

Before people say it that we could’ve ended up with Van Gaal, we didn’t, Levy had Poch on his final 2, went for him and it worked out really well.

Do I wish we had more of a plan and were more decisive? Yes.

Am I still concerned about how the football side of the club is being run? Yes.

Am I also balanced and objective enough to recognise that the club did an internal review and audit of both the player recruitment and football strategy and are perhaps realising they need to adapt and operate differently and by that have appointed Munn in a newly created role and structure and have been targeting 3-4 Managers who all play the style of play we want to see? Yes.

I think the issue is as much as we all very much appreciate info etc, when it’s constantly worded in such a dramatic and negative fashion without us being able to ask Q’s or know the full details then it can get a bit tiring because others have a habit of jumping on this and wallowing in and exacerbating the doom and gloom.

Like I said at the start of the process, Levy is a ‘blue’ analytical type personality, so things get overanalysed and dragged out but if at the end of this process we hire a manager who is a good fit and who aims to play the type of football we want to see and develop younger players and build a new project then like Jol, Redknapp and Poch, it is possibly to make this job a vague ‘success’ under Levy’s reign and for us to most importantly enjoying watching and supporting the team again.

How many managers where the right choice but where not backed and lost key players sold without replacing Adequately, or had no viable strikers, defender etc.

Jol, sold carrick, didn’t get him a CB and left winger, DZ was not good enough.

Ramos sold, Defoe, Keane berbatov

AVB, sold bale and replaced with some shocking choices,
Poch, needed investment plus poor recruitment after Son
Jose and Conte no defence

Despite what the ITK and journos have been saying, it does seem like there was actually a plan and process followed throughout the last few months.

1. Identified main targets (Ange, Slot, Nagelsmann, Amorim, Enrique)
2. Sounded out their level of interest (JN disqualified because he wanted to wait and see what came about, probably said no)
3. Determined Slot was the guy, knocked back JN interest in the press.
4. Slot's compensation was too high, decided we didn't want to move forward (he also realized that we didn't want him enough to cause a scene)
5. Moved to Ange as next option, but knew we had to wait until after the treble was secured
6. Hire Ange within the week after Celtic's season ends

Not to bash any ITKs here about not having a plan but this seems exactly how a good business would operate at hiring level

I think JN and Slot turned us down because we didn’t want to do thinks there way!

Let's wait until Ange signs before making predictions about his Spurs-future.... anything can happen with this club. We should know that by now 😊

Its obvious he was first choice all along. The timing of it all makes perfect sense. Getting it done after the cup final was always the plan :cautious:

Just waiting now for a statement from the club (and a bit of ITK to back it up) that Ange was the top target right from the start.

I'm just looking forward to some brave football compared to the boring, cowardly shite we've had for years. I just hope we can attract the quality of players we need for an extensive rebuild and that Levy doesn't block any business. Just for once, trust the bloke you've given the job to.

Half expecting it to go tits up now I've said that.

Meh!

I'll support him and give him time but I don't think Kane will.
While I have the greatest level of gratitude for the way Kane has done his job over the last few years, I’m sick of reading posts about whether or not he’ll be happy with the appointment.

Not a personal dig at you btw - I just don’t give a flying fuck if he’s happy or not. I care that he does his job.

The badge on the front of the shirt will always be bigger than the name on the back. Always.

Scary logic in this thread,

We had 2 big name managers and they didn't succeed(Just overlook the CL qualification and cup final, sure)

So we are going to try something different and go for someone who has never managed in Europe outside of Scotland where he outspent his rival by 150% signing 24 players in 2 seasons

the fuck you want me to do? I ain’t gonna moan and bitch every day. Life too short. Either he succeeds or not. I’m hoping for the former.
