I've always laughed at the fans claiming he was 'World Class'. Hopefully those shocking chances he missed today should bring home the fact that he is only good, NOT World Class.

I justrd watched most the game again just to see Pavs contribution and he played extremely well - assisted bales goal set Defoe through for his missed one v one, switched play very well and worked really really hard. Big negatives were his 2 glaring misses - they were really awful. Also a nit annoyed that towards the end he kept getting offside . But it was definitely one of his better games. If he scored those 2 sitters he would have got MOTM

Sandra will be laughing over her evening hot chocolate. Truth is he was on his last legs at the end of the game. i honestly supposed that Crouch was coming on for Pav.

Like others I think Pav worked his ass off today. Two glaring misses, but luckly enough they didn't cost us so no harm done. He's saving them for OT next weekend

He is better than Modric by a mile.

And how many did Drogba score today?

A player's quality is judged over a career...not one game (especially where the player performs well, even if he fials to score).

Pav may not have scored but ou really shouldn't underestimate the contribution he has made towards these 2 fantastic wins.

He was alot better than Drogba or Anelka, are they not world class then?

Other than his woeful finishing, I think Pav's overall play today was magnificent, as it was on Wednesday. I think it is telling that Redknapp, who has always been a huge fan of Defoe, has left Pav on in both games this week when he has wanted to get Eidur on. It is a sign that he now trusts him as our No. 1 striker, which I think is only fair after his recent performance.

We must remember that David Icke and purple shape-shifting alien reptiles (think Barney the Dinosaur) have totally fucked the thread-starter's brain.

He was holding upthe ball and then pinging it about superbly today. He just didn't quite have his Darren bent boots on when it came to finding the net.

I can see the OP's view, but I've gone the other way.

I never thought he was truly outstanding, in the same way one could argue Defoe isnt truly world class (compared to your messi et al of the world). Pav had some good ability, and if he applied himself properly he would be a very good player. The last two games he has really worked hard. Yes, he should have got one or two goals today, but not only did he get an assist but he showed impressive strength to shrug off Terry, which led to his first booking and eventual sending off.

Goals on top of this would be great, but Pav showed that when he isnt scoring he is still of great use to the team, and thats what I want to see.
