He won't hit his peak for years, but the trouble is he's regressed quite badly. He looks so slow too, I'm sure he used to be swifter than he is. From a pretty reliable centre half, his brain has turned into a Aurier meets Walker with brain farts and decision making

Doesn't bring any confidence to the back line, problem is he's the quickest out of all our defender by far.

I don't even think Skriniar is the answerz we need someone with pace at the back.
Skriniar is quicker than people think.

Also, I can think of a lot of quality defensive partnerships over the years that didn't rely on pace. Chiellini & Bonucci, Godin & Gimenez, Lucio & Materazzi etc etc.

We won't be playing a high line so we don't need to worry about pace in behind so much. Also, in transition our defensive line always drops which doesn't suit Sanchez and doesn't make the most of his best assets.

What we need is CBs who are good at reading the game, know when to be aggressive and attack the ball, as well as great at set pieces.

The problem is none of our set excell at these things nor are they in the same class as those mentioned.

I'm hoping Rodon can show he's the real deal, and then we bring in Skriniar. Think we'll see a much more solid base.

Seems Rodon is deceptively pacy too, which would help along with his experience as a LCB, so a Rodon/Skriniar partnership would be great. Also, both seem to be very good readers of the game; Skriniar obviously more proven.

Re today, Sanchez in a back four partnering Davies as a CB doesn't give much defensive security. Compounding that insecurity is the flimsy defensive shield that Winks provided as our dedicated, "specialist" DCM in the first half.

The setup/lineup we had against Antwerp just highlighted the weaknesses of both Sanchez and Winks and the critical, squad needs in key CB and DCM areas.

A lot of people talk about lack of pace at the back but how many goals have we conceded recently due to lack of pace at the back ?

Third best of the CBs. Hasn't progressed at all from the day we bought him and not at all what we had hoped he was for 42million.
Judging by the squad for the Burnley game he is 4th choice and that's with Rondon not even being settled in !

We need a physical specimen that just fucks everyone in the air and in a tackle. Let Toby do the ball playing and this 'new' player do the dirty work. Rodon could be the answer?

Could just get Fazio back if that's all we need.
That guy couldn't tackle to save his life. Decent in the air but that was really it. When VVD goes up for a corner, the chaos he creates is insane. He wins 9/10 of his aerial battles. Need someone like that.

Can't remember the last time one of our CB'S scored from a set piece !

Not part of the squad at west Brom at all. Is the writing on the ball for young Davison similar to Dele in that he’s a good player but if Jose doesn’t fancy or trust him he’s too expensive an asset to keep when we could sell and replace with someone Jose prefers or re-invest in other areas?

I Like Davinson and think his pace will come in handy in certain games but bit worried he just doesn’t look confident recently

The source for this was Don Balon who is the worst source in Spain, Last month they linked him to Everton because James wanted him and two months ago to Juventus because Ronaldo wanted him
